You make a label through PayPal and ship the item w/insurance and Signature Confirmation.
The person isn't home to sign, so a notice is left for them to pick the item up at the Post Office.
The item eventually gets shipped back to you because buyer never picked up the item.

What would you do?

1--- Charge for re-shipping the item back to him?
2--- Refund his money minus shipping?
3--- Other (Explain)

PAYPAL holding money--- See below

why is how the label was made important in this?

Is there something wrong with the way Paypal created it so it didn't actually make it correctly?

I always touch base with a buyer to make sure when they want it delivered.

If the buyer wigged out, then he needs to pay to have it shipped back

If you didn't communicate and just sent off an item, then it's on you.

I'd ask the buyer what he wants to do and go from there.

Here's how I do my shipping when I sell stuff. I use priority mail and use click-n-ship at usps.com. An email gets sent to the buyer through usps w/ the confirmation #. I also put a copy of the paypal receipt email into the package. This works really well for me and I've never had a single problem. *knock on wood*

I would say it's up to the buyer's responsibility to pickup the item from the post office after I ship the package out. If he doesn't pickup the package from the post office, and the package gets returned to me, then he's out of luck. I'll go w/ option #2, refund his money minus s/h and relist the item.

I'd ask the buyer which option he wanted, #1 or #2 from the OP.

Well the problem hasn't occured yet, I just see it happening. I've sent the guy emails giving him updates and asking questions, but have yet to get 1 response in return.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll let you know what happens.

Oh, one more thing........ WTF is up with PayPal locking funds untill they know the buyer recieves the item? When did this go into effect?

Never heard of it. I pull my money out of PayPal as soon as I get it. I don't leave money in that account.

Here's the email I got from PayPal.....
Amount was about $130.

You've received a payment, detailed below. We?ve placed a temporary hold on the funds for this transaction.

PayPal and eBay are working together to make payments for eBay items even safer. Because we want both buyers and sellers to feel confident about sending and receiving payments through PayPal, we may temporarily hold payments for items sold on eBay.

Make sure to ship the item right away, so you'll have access to the funds sooner. We?ll release the hold in 21 days unless you receive a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal on the transaction subject to the hold. We may release the hold earlier if either of the following occurs:

The buyer leaves you positive feedback on eBay.
We confirm that the item was delivered.* We can confirm delivery if you ship the item with USPS, FedEx, or UPS and either use PayPal shipping labels or upload tracking information from the transaction details page. This applies to transactions within the United States.
Additional hold period

If you receive a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal on the transaction subject to the hold, we may hold the payment until the problem is resolved.

Learn more about the PayPal policy for payment holds for eBay items.

We will notify you by email when the funds are released. You can monitor the status of the hold in your Transaction History.

* This applies to US domestic transactions that are shipped by USPS, FedEx, or UPS and either (i) use PayPal shipping labels to ship items or (ii) provide tracking information to PayPal.

Yes, it's a new policy. If you have a certain amount of feedback they skip over your account when they do their check, I think it's 100+. It's supposed to keep new members from scamming people easily.

This is for Ebay transactions only by the way, this doesn't apply to regular PayPal transfers.

I just got this issue when I sold some e-tickets for a playoff game. Unfortunately, there was nothing to ship, so I don't know how to get around the hold. I would get the money if the buyer left positive feedback, but he/she hasn't yet.
