I have a general question if im not overclocking and running at stock speed what advantages are there in getting a motherboard from Abit or Asus over and Intel board? I hear Intel boards are reliable and very stable

Well, the Intel boards typically use ADI SoundMAX so it is better than most of the others who use Realtek. I think the onboard sound will be better **typically** on the comparable Intel boards.

i have a soundblaster card so im not worried about sound. here is what i was looking at

Intel 875 pbzlk or 865 perll

Abit 875 ic7 or ic-7 g max 2 865pe ai7

Asus 875 p4c800 e deluxe or p4c800 deluxe (non E version) 865p4p800 e deluxe

the 865pe Perll has the firewire i want and customers give it a 5 star rating on newegg

So if you are not going to overclock at all my recommendation would be for the Intel 875 Bonanza. From the benchmarks I've seen around the web it is just as fast or faster than the competition at stock settings. Plus, it is hard to beat the reliability of an Intel CPU on an Intel motherboard.

But overall, I would overclock the system and I would go for the Abit IC7-G Max 2 out of all the options you have listed.
