Both my memory and motherboard circuitry (PWMIC) are extremely sensitive to heat. I?ve managed to attain much better results simply by placing a small 80mm fan inside the case, directed at the affected areas. For example, when overclocking my CPU only, PWMIC cooling made the difference between immediate errors and rock solid stability.

Throughout the winter, I?ve found that using a desk fan to circulate cool air has made it easy to overclock and benchmark various hardware configurations. The fan was used to draw in cool air from a window or vent, as a method of forcing cool air directly onto the hardware itself, or as an exhaust for warm air. You?d be surprised how much area two overclocked dual core PCs can heat!

Now that the weather is starting to become warmer, the borrowed fan is now in the possession of its owner. (Try buying a fan in the winter at a retail store.) As for the hardware, I?ve determined it?s potential and am in the process of sinking the motherboard and circulating air behind the humongous Big Typhoon heatsink in order to cool the ram.

Now, I?d like to purchase a fan for my office. I signed up for a free trial of Amazon Prime and started narrowing down my search. I?ve looked all over in hopes of finding CFM and dBA ratings for ?desk? fans. The three I?m considering are:

Vornado 510W (best)
Holmes HAOF-90UC (decent)
Honeywell HT800 (junk)

If anyone can come up with some numbers, I?d be impressed.
