Gender Wars (no flames... intellingent input please ;) )

So what do AT'ers think?

Which gender is more dominant? Why?

Does anyone here regret being born male/female?

Do you guys/girls think that there really is sexual equality in your school? circle of friends? family? country?

Where do you see the role of the man/woman in the next 20 years?

males are dominant right now, (im not saying that is right, just how it is) but in 20 years i think women will gain a considerable more ground.

women have the power..... 😉
they hold the key to our happiness 🙂
women dominate because there's always the threat of being 'cut off' (more ways than one i suppose)
plus, you have to walk on eggshells around them especially in the office environment with all these laws to 'protect' them [flame suite on!] 😀

As for education... the females dominate that environment. more female than male teachers. but they still call on boys more often than girls. kinda sad really, but what can you do?

It's only natural that males dominate over females, except for a few species, but that's beside the point.

It's part of the way we Primates procreate 🙂

Being a guy is just so much more... low-maintenance, you know what i mean?
the female body is a beautiful thing, so you need a lot of resources to maintain it.
like Elaine said in Seinfeld, "The male body isn't beautiful, it's... practical; just for going from here to there; like a Jeep"

I think males are more dominant (duh!). Dominant: "Exercising the most influence or control." Just look around you. Men have the most influence or control. It's a sad but true fact. But I don't think that's what you meant by this thread. Don't you mean which sex is "better"? In that case, I think they're equal.

Sexual equality is good, but in the rush for "equality", I think it is getting too far towards the other end of the spectrum.
Example:
I'm an engr. co-op student at university, so every 4 months I submit my resume to numerous companies, and am then given interviews to find out where my next job will be. Well, when the interview lists for each job is posted, I often see an even number of males and females being interviewed. This makes absolutely NO SENSE. All you engr. students know that only about 10-20% of your classmates are female. So, one would expect that 10-20% of students selected for an interview would be female, right? Nope. Companies want to have an even mix of male/female, so females are given jobs over males that could quite possibly be more qualified.

I don't regret being born male, and I hope women don't regret being born female. Each sex has its own benefits, and I think it's perfect that way. Being a woman usually makes it easier for you to get out of trouble, and get what you want. But then again, men don't have to give birth or have periods, and can usually get to positions of power (CEO, President) easier.

I HOPE in the next 20 years that it is completely equal; however, I wish companies/government would get away from hiring for equality and more towards who would be the best person for the job.

Just my $.02.

do you think that females use a "inferiority complex" when dealing with males to get what they want?

😀

<< do you think that females use a "inferiority complex" when dealing with males to get what they want? >>

Just like anything else: some do, some don't.

<< I think I speak for all married men on this board when I vote "female of course!". 😉😛 🙂 >>

YES!! that's number two! woohoo! FEMALES RULE YOUR LIVES!!! they will forever. 🙂

Which is more dominate? Neither. We can all do exactly what the other group does, and the only thing we need men for right now is sperm. Once we find a way to recreate that, you guys are history. 😉 Seriously though, neither should be considered dominate, we both have things to offer the world, and both sexes need each other in the end. So I think we are pretty equal.

Just a note:

dom·i·nant (dm-nnt)
adj.
Exercising the most influence or control.
Most prominent, as in position; ascendant.

Male....female....it matters not. You are all equally low to the Great Phatooo

When the invasion beg....aahhhh!! *winces in pain*

I mean......males...males

PLEASE DONT HURT ME GREAT PHATOOO!!!

-Dominant? Inspite of general progress in every country, where it concerns female rights, I think males are still dominant. But I think in a decade or two, we'd be considered equals.

-Sometimes I regret that I wasn't born male, because its so much easier to get dressed in the morning: pants and shirt. Girls have a harder time to get dressed, we have to mix and match 🙂

-My campus is in Singapore. Its equality of sexes here, that I can tell you.
-My family is typically chinese, so it tends to be male dominated, as in, people expect the males to do better than the girls etc, which is kind of dumb. 🙂
-My circle of friends consist of males and females. 🙂

-In 20 yrs or more time, I see man and woman as the same thing, with gays and lesbians in between, especially with the advent of cloning techniques and such.

I should have been born female...I'd make a good lesbian. 😉

Unfortunately, society is still largely dominated by men. For example, did you know that if you compare tenured professors of equal experience and expertise, male vs. female, males profs make much more than their female counterparts? A male professor at my school (Eckerd College) just recently confirmed that it's true there, but there have also been studies at Harvard and other prestegious schools where this is also true.

It IS possible for females to dominate or make more money than a male, but they can't just be "as good", they have to be significantly better. Not everyone can do that.
