I bought a Gem 18" flat panel 4 or 5 years ago, and a few months ago it went POP while I wasn't at the PC and died. I figured it was trash and bought a replacement, but a few weeks later I called the manufacturer for the heck of it, they said the AC adapter was a common cause, sent a replacement free of charge and it works like a champ!

I was very impressed with their service since it was a very cheap brand (both that they were knowledgeable enough to know about and admit the problem, and also that they were willing to send me another AC adapter for free) . I believe I found out at the time they were a division of ScanPort.

In any case, it was a decent monitor, nothing great, but great for the money.

I bought one of these during the Houston Frys Grand Opening. I took it back after finding it had a 30 ms response. Since I primarily game on my pc, that was not acceptable to me. It might be for you for your particular usage. Im too lazy to post the link to the product, but a google search did it for me. Good luck.

Bought one on price-mistake a few deals back Link. Still waiting on rebate.

Monitor itself is decent. We don't use it for gaming so can't comment on ghosting. Looks fine for DVD's (no issues). Text is sharp and colors decent/bright. Had to manually adjust the settings a bit, the 'auto' config left text a little blurry. Fixed it by adjusting one of the params in the menu. Quite happy thus far.

Downsides: Analogue only (no dvi); No speakers; Possibly slow on motion video.
