GEIL ONE BH memory -- how can I go higher?

Even after burning in for several nights, it still fails @ stock speeds above 3.52Vdimm

I dont even know what else to try. I got it stable at 2-2-2-5 @ DDR500, but even DDR510 is extremely iffy and DDR520 is not stable at all, just gets killed in memtest86+ after about 5 minutes.

If I could atleast give it more Vdimm, I have the chips extremely well cooled and even with the high Vdimm they are barely warm to the touch.

Of course I have them in the Orange slots and have messed with all sorts of settings.

They seem to do well at lower Vdimm, I can do 240mhz(ddr 580) with only 3.17Vdimm

If i wanted memory that did well at low Vdimm I would have picked up TCCD, but this memory claims to have a opterating voltage of up to 3.8, which it can not even touch with a 50ft pole.

Any suggestions how to get a higher vdimm stable?

edit: A 12 hour burn-in at 3.56V was successful at 2-2-2-5 DDR504

Currently burning in at 3.6V

This memory seems to be improving.

what else do the specs say they can handle? what timings at what speed?

maybe they can get 3.8 vdimm but only on loosened timings or something. otherwise, correct me if im wrong, but isnt 2-2-2-5 @ ddr500 pretty good already?

damn id be happy with 2-2-2 @500... my chips wont go above ddr 400 at 2.5-3-3-8.. and living in hong kong good ram is hard to come by. try running one stick at a time and see if one of them is crappy and limiting your overclocking/...

i just am disapointed in the Vdimm options.

I was hoping there were some tricks to unlocking 3.6+

*sigh*

On another note, DDR 510 is stable, just not any higher. I am going to tighten up the timings and shoot for 1.5-2-2-5

edit: 1.5-2-2-5 works fine at DDR500

I guess i cant complain as much anymore. Still sorta bumed out about hte low Vdimm

Just another update. I've been slowly burning in the memory at stock 2-3-2-5 timings at slightly higher voltage. It seems to be making slow progress at accepting higher volts. It almost likes 3.6Vdimm now.

Hopefully another 12 hours of memtest86+ will get rid of any more errors at 3.6Vdimm and I will continue to push to voltage higher.

I had it stable at 1.5-2-2-5 @ DDR500, we'll see what I end up with.

dude, I'd be happy if I could get 1.5-2-2-X out of any ram at 3.5vdimm...thats faster than just about anything out there.

for most people to get higher than 250 fsb at 2-2-2-x loosen up the other settings

still cooling becomes very important as the modules get hotter not only from the voltage but the fsb as well

Not trying to thread crap, but supposedly the CAS 1.5 setting works internally in AMD's memory controller as CAS 2, as it does not support CAS 1.5

Yes, CAS 1.5 == fairy tale

EDIT

Is this 2x1GB or 2x512MB?

cas 1.5 sets cas to 2 and loosens some of the other settings, its to help stability, it works for some

i never really saw the point

it is just a 2x512 kit :( I dream of 2x1gb, any 2gb kits that can run ddr500 @ 2-2-2-5?

Im doing max around 255(DDR510) @ 1.5-2-2-5

It makes sense that 1.5 is a fairytale, my ram was easily able to hit it. I will test everest to see the differences.

Here are my everest scores with 252 @ 1.5-2-2-5

memory read: 6817
memory write: 2976
Memory latency: 36.8ns

Let me reboot and try 2-2-2-5, see the difference.

Edit: here is 2-2-2-5

memory read: 6807
memory write: 2967
memory latency: 37.4

rebooting again to test at 1.5-2-2-5 to verify results.

Here are my everest scores again tested with 252 @ 1.5-2-2-5

memory read: 6832
memory write: 2966
Memory latency: 37.2ns

Definitely seems like fbrdphreak is correct, 1.5 doesnt seem to really do anything

I didnt get any extra mhz by going from 1.5 to 2.0

This expert board is REALLY tricky anyway. Took me a bit to lock in the settings.

Check out everst and do a memory benchmark, really helps games out if you have high performance memory.
