Geil 2x512 meg PC3200 2-3-3 memory $149.99 (not value RAM)

Outpost has this memory (model GL1G3200DC) for $149.99. The picture is wrong, it doesn't have the thermometer. But it is good memory with good timings.

If you want to step up from value RAM but you don't want to blow $250 on the ultimate, this is a good choice.

I can't find it anywhere else for under $180.

2-3-3
2.55v - 2.95v

It has heat spreaders. I have two and will be overclocking them this weekend with a DFI nF4 Ultra/Winchester 3000+.

CAS 2 6-3-3 @ DDR400 PC3200 6-3-3 is definitely value ram at best.

I would argue value ram is more like 2.5-3-3 or 3-4-4 at PC3200. Memory like this:

I almost got this Mushkin memory, but the Geil had better timings for the same money (the Geil was $139 when I bought it).

Sure, the Geil is not 2-2-2, but it has solid timings that are better than bottom-of-the-barrel value ram for roughly the same price. You also get a lifetime warrantee and a name brand.

I also know that the A64 doesn't benefit a whole lot from lower timings. But for the same price, Mushkin 2.5-3-3 vs Geil 2-3-3, I bought the Geil.

Also the Geil can do 2.95v if you want to press it. The Mushkin can only do 2.6v.

no i think value ram has CAS2.5. Those are the Ultra spec listed in Geil website.
I bought a pair, they are heavy coz they come with zinc coated copper spreader. not sure how well they oc yet...

The certainly are heavy. Very solid. I'll be overclocking this weekend. I don't expect DDR550, but I'm hoping for DDR440 to DDR480 at 2.5-4-3-10 1T or so.

It'll be nice if you can post your speed and timing for these rams at OC forum coz i'm trying to do the same (or pm me). I'm going to OC my 3000+ with them, but i really don't have a clue about ram timing stuff. my cpu will be arriving today...

btw these same rams were $80 each (in single package) last week at Frys and i bought one. exchange it when i found they were 150 for a pair this week

These are considered to be "the" overclocking memory in Korea. From what I understand, these are also very popular in other parts of Asia.

Considering that Samsung and Hynix (Hyundai) are both Korean companies, if the computer geeks in Korea like these Geil modules, it is saying a lot.

Well.. Not really. I am Korean and also an active member of one of the biggest Korean hardware website called Parkoz. Reason why many Korean buyers choose Geil is because they are cheap in Korea, as cheap as genuine Samsung 3-4-4-8 module (Not TCCD. There's no genuine Samsung memory using TCCD. Funny isn't it?). That's only reason Geil "was" popular there. (Not anymore. ADATA took over Geil's place of cheap/OC well memory) For the people who have a bit more money to spend, they never grab Geil. They grab something like Corsair or OCZ.

Anyone have OC'ing results for this RAM? I just got it and was wondering how far I can push it. Post/PM voltage/settings please?

well i took the plunge and ordered myself a package of this stuff

i've been using geil value ram and it's been top notch, let's hope this stuff has some OCing juice in it

I had a bad cell in one of mine, so I RMA'd them. Test 7 in MemTest showed the error repeatedly.

Michael at Geil USA was great. Gave me an RMA number when I sent him the MemTest results.
