We had 2 cars on our Geico policy ($930 for 6 mo). Added another car and took it off a month later. Now, the original 2 cars will magically cost $1180 for 6 mo. WTF, a $250 more than a month ago?!

They say there was a "rate increase" *cough BS cough*. Has anyone else's policy gone up? We had no other changes in the household or cars.

Same thing happened to me at progressive. "Rate increase" they said.

I was paying 780/6 mos for my truck; then I added my brother and his car, which raised us to 2480/6 mos (!) so I took it right back off, and was left with just me and my truck, again, at 940/6 mos. Hrm.....

So now I switched to state farm and got us both insured for only 1500/6 mos. (And cheaper home insurance to boot, which also lowered the auto insurance by another 15%!)

I am going to tell Geico that I will ask my friends, relatives, and co-workers if they experienced any "rate increase" and that if Geico is lying I am going to sue their asses. I will also mention how they said adding a car and taking it off should not affect the premium.

thanks for confirming my theory

My rate went down on my last bill. My trucks getting older now too though. I've had geico for seven years or so.

They've never raised my rates, and have only gone down this once.

You have no case to sue them. Shop around and see if you can find someone cheaper. If you can't find anyone cheaper than live with it.

Prior to adding that 3rd car, they confirmed: adding, then removing it should NOT affect the premium! Bait and switch.

It's grimey, but it's not illegal.
