I have Geico and just needed to file a glass claim myself (thieves busted my passenger window and stole my radio). I called in the claim, brought the car to an adjuster to write up the claim, and then took it to the shop to get repaired. They gave me a check for the additional damage over the deductible ($330) and I paid the entire bill. If you need to, the repair place can file a "supplemental claim" so Geico will pay them directly, but trust me it's a PITA. You'll likely just end up eating the difference like I did just so you could get on with your life instead of having to wait for the repair shop to get the check and release the car to me.

BTW, I'm older and have moved up my insurance coverage over the years and found out my comprehensive deductible was still $500. Likely yours is the same or higher so filing a claim might not mean much, if it's just a spiderweb crack it's not going to cost over your deductible to fix.

I thought there usually isn't a deductible on glass.... since most are below the usual $500.

In Florida they are required to pay for glass breakage, at least the last time I checked. Check you local laws and insurance regualtions. Some local buisness will handle all the insurance claims for you, including contacting your company or agent for you.

Low Cost of living my A$$! Prices are skyrocketing, real estate is getting very expensive, and Orange Juice is cheaper in PA than Florida. 10 years ago you could have bought a nice house for 150k or so, but now that same house costs you 500k! (not kidding) Wages are low here and expenses are high, but still lower than NYC or California. I have heard several people complain about not making enough money here (doing the same thing they did back home) after moving from the north to escape to live in warm weather. We have bugs the size of your middle finger and hurricanes(aka atomic bombs) that pop up out of the middle of nowhere to destroy you and your nice little home. I4 is a diasaster and old people drive 45 in the far left lane where the speed limit is 70. Florida blows harder than a hurricane. Stay away!

All you have to do is Call Glass Doctor and they will bill the insurance company for you. They know all the laws and don't want you to pay unless you have to.
