my father currently has allstate and now that GEICO is covering NJ, i called and received a quote for auto insurance. the savings looks to be around 600-700 DOLLARS every 6 months(for 4 cars)!!! i cant believe this.

if you live in NJ and have not talked to GEICO, maybe its time you do......

now i wonder how their service is....

yeaaaa. my exact reaction when i heard this on the radio this morning. but ronnie, they are gonna raise rates after they get a decent customer base. so savings might not last. ask them about this. but im definately gonna have them give me a quote

i hope not. i hope this encourages other companies in nj to lower their rates.

even if GEICO does raise rates in the future, it shoudl still be cheaper than what i pay now (and ill take the huge savings for the following year(s) in the meantime).

uh oh. why is that?

At least in TX they did. Horrible CS, horrible time trying to get an accident covered, subpar staff and personnel. (I went through their interview process and I think I could have said "well I plan on doing work Office Space style" and I still would have gotten hired)

Yeah, Progressive had better rates for me than Geico, here in MS. Allstate was the worst of the worst though, and dropping them was one of the happiest days of my life. :D

I've had nothing but great service from Geico, and I've been with them for over 4 years now. They had the only suitable prices for a relatively young driver (I switched to them when I was 20). I've had two accidents since I've been with them, and one was my fault (very minor accident).

I've heard a lot of complaints about Geico's responsiveness to claims.
My family has used Allstate for years and we've had nothing but good experiences and great rates from them. I think with Allstate it is key to find an agent that you can trust. Try and get references.

They make money by only having "perfect" people under their "Umbrella".

They cannot afford the low cost premiums with less than "perfect" people.

Geico does NJ now?

I've got Prudential (Highpoint) and they are a total rip off but there wasn't much else to use since State Farm dropped us.

Edit: Interesting. If you are a member of MENSA you may be eligible for a discount or something at Geico.

Too bad I am teh stvpid

Geico sucks, I would not use them even if they were less expensive.

Google it. Geico radar gun.

They've supplied millions of dollars worth of radar guns to police across the nation because they know that they can increase prices by quite a bit with every ticket, eventhough their actual risk increase is very low.

You guys that are saying Geico sucks have no idea what the state of insurance is like in NJ.

It is freaking impossible to get insurance here. All these companies pulled out of NJ like State Farm and Prudential because they don't want to insure NJ drivers. To even get a quote, you need to fill out some ridiculous 10 page questionaires.

The fact that someone actually came into NJ is a good thing even if you say they suck. If you don't live here, you can't compare it with what you have in your state.
