I've heard quite a few people talk about being able to mod ati based cards to perform better, but does anyone know of any firmware mods for geforce fx based cards. i just bought a pny geforce fx 5200 the other day, and i know it's not exactly the cream of the crop, i just got a good deal on it at work. anyone know anything about such a thing?

Can't be done.... The FX5200 isn't a crippled version of the 5600, and the 5600 isn't a crippled version of the 5900.... It's debatable as to whether or not that 5800 is a crippled 5900 though.... Anyways, The FX5200 chip is crap, a GF3 will smoke it. A GF4 will some a 5600... Sadly, you're going to need to break the $300 mark to get a decent performing nvidia card.

I paid $220 for a GF4 ti4400 about a year ago.... and it's not a decent performer w/ AA on

Whats AA got to do with performance? Last time I used AA it was for its "visual" effect.

Yeah... and with a Ti4200, you really can't expect to be able to play with AA turned on...
