Don't know. That's why I ask. I never seem to hear much from them, so I'm either not listening close enough or they're just more generic or SOMETHING.

aren't visiontek and xtasy the same card?

anyhow, the GeForce4 MX cards aren't worth it IMO (the GeForce3's are better since the GeForce4 MX is based on the GeForce2 MX model). I think the first GeForce4 card to be worth it is the GeForce4 Ti4200, but again, that's just my opinion.

edit - also, Visiontek used to make the Elsa boards, not sure if they still do or not though.

Oh, geez. Sorry, forgot about the mx. No, I was assuming the Ti 4200/4600 (think those the right #'s). Yeah, geforce4mx isn't worth it for a performance hog :)

i say that the GeForce4 Ti4200 is really the only one worth it for price/performance...first because the GeForce3 is still overkill for almost all games (the GeForce4 will be also, but the Ti4200's pricetag is only $199 making it cheaper than the GeForce3 original and Ti500).

:D

well, then, what kind of performance difference is there between the 4200 and 4600? splitting hairs?

there's most definately a performance increase for the 4600 on paper but seriously you'd be hard pressed to notice it in applications if you tried (not benchmarks mind you). also the price tag ($399) is definately not worth it in my opinion.

I think you're right.
Btw, do you know if any new athlon processors are coming out relatively soon?

A 1.8GHz Athlon XP will arrive sometime in the next 4-5 weeks.

I think it depends on a few things:
1) What kind of system do you currently have? (Is it powerful enough to take advantage of tech)
2) What kind of video card do you currently have? (If you have a GeForce 3 Ti500, then don't upgrade.)
3) How much money do you have to spend? (If you have $400 you are willing to spend, then ....)
4) What do you want out of a video card? (Do you play games at high resolutions or do you want full screen AA...)

I personally am going to get it, based on the above criteria.
