Nice price on this 128 meg GF4 TI4200 card for $155.49 includes shipping Fedex 2 day. Price grabber showed closest vendor at $175 with shipping.

Price at Newegg is $157 with free shippin, and their usually very competitive and a great vendor to buy from, so this deal is pretty good

I have this card too but in the ULTRA XP (VIVO) w/ DVI Golden Sample version. It was 171.* with shipping.

Just got it the other day, it was a little more money but very fun.

Already ordered a larger fan with copper heat sink and mem heat sinks and artic silver three. (an extra 3*.** bucks.)

Beta Det 41.03 are out now too.

nifty

I've only heard good things about gainward's cards, that's why i got one.

This deal is good, but not super Hot, since Newegg carrys it for only 2 bucks more. Still, if your buying a card now, your better off with 128 vs 64 meg simply for the future as newer games will need the higher memory for more textures, but right now 64 meg is fine plus the 64 meg cards have faster memory, but again those cards with 128meg will outperform those when more textures is required so buy a 128meg card if your not planning to upgrade again within a year or so. Look for the 4200 cards to drop considerably more around xmas time as the 4400 and 4600 cards become more mainstream.

Well I wouln't worry much about the 128meg vs 64 meg. By the time the games come out that need 128 meg video cards, the GF4 will be old anyways and you'll want a new card.

Kraeji,

The recent Star wars game is really the first game I have seen that makes a huge difference if you have a 128mb card vs. a 64mb card. So the games are already on their way.

Think I may jump on this, have been looking for a Geforce4 for a little while.

Thanks for the post!

FYI, I payed the extra $1.50 and got it at newegg. Trust them a lot more :)

you can raise the clock speed of the 128 and it will be the same or faster as the 128 card.

I think you meant you can raise the clock speed of the 64mb...

You can also raise the clockspeed of the 128 and it will be the same as the 4600.

Yes, I have read that the "golden sample" cards can be OC to reach 4600 speeds. I am not an avid Oc'er though...I like longer life, less heat, and solid stability.

Depends on how desperate you are for a card. If you can handle waiting another 2 months then I'd definetly wait as they will most likely drop down in prices around this time. However, I figure I'll pay $50 more now, but at least I'll get instant gratification, I'm tired of my card :)

I'm also not a big OC'er which is why I went with the 128mb so I could get great performance without burning out the cards lifeline.

I am going to buy this one as soon as it is around $100. Right now I still have my Gainward GF3 Ti200 Golden Sample, which is still pretty ok.

Beandog I'll assume by your post you don't know about gainward's golden sample cards.

They guarantee that you will be able to overclock it without problems to a certain speed.
They configured the card a little bit differently for the golden samples.

By the time a card would ever die from over clocking (if it would ever happen to one of these), you would have bought a new one.
Their is nothing wrong with ocing, they even give you the utility to oc the card.

but right now 64 meg is fine plus the 64 meg cards have faster memory

Just read a review on the nv28 chips that are coming out soon. The 128 meg version of the 4200 memory had been increased.

From tomshardware
The Ti4200-8x remains unchanged at 250/500MHz for the 64MB version. Interestingly, the memory of the reference cards supplied by NVIDIA for testing ran slightly faster, namely at 512MHz (NV18) and 514MHz (NV28). Officially, both cards are being advertised as using a memory clockspeed of 500MHz, though.

The way I see, if you're a big time gamer, like yours truely, I'd recommend you get a new card every 1.5 years.

danny~!

As soon as the NV30 comes out these cards will fall to the $100 range for a 128MB card, and that shouldn't be too far from now. The extra 128 MB DOES help out now, especially with games like Unreal Tournament 2003, Battlefield 1942, and No One Lives Forever 2. I also heard that Doom III will need a 128MB card because it has 80MB of textures, but I don't know if even a Ti4600 will be able to run it great. I am running the alpha of it on my Ti4200 OC'ed and can barely get above 30FPS on medium detail. It is an alpha though, with no code optimization, so who knows... :D
