My dad has on old 64 mb geforce 3. he does pictures and a little video editing. I have a GeForce4 Ti 4200 4x that I was going to give to him but I noticed how cheap the 6200's are. how big of a difference would a non gamer notice between the two? Thanks, elad

Absolutely not a great difference whatsoever... The 6200 can possibly be unlocked as well, making it a quite strong performer for its price (if your dad would be a mild gamer)... But for a non-gamer, I'd say the 6200 will even give him a better picture... However, ATI's (apart from Matrox) do have always shown a better image quality in 2D than nVidia cards...

I would probably say 6200. I think the 2D image quality was hit or miss on older Nvidia cards. A cheap ATI 9600 card might be a good choice as well.

99% of the 6200 cards on the market today are ALL ! 64bit memory....

Its SAD but true This is what happend when Nvidia changed over to native AGP from its bridged 6200 PCI-E cards that could unlock to 8 pipelines.

Now they are all 4 pipes and all 64 bit .. avoid them if you can and a Ti4200 would be twice as fast in gaming. and 2D image Qty is great on that card.

As far as anything being wrong, my dad had said he noticed the geforce 3 was not keeping up with what he needs. I think he said its a 32mb or a 64 mb card.
I want it to be a noticable difference if Im going to spend the money since I have the g4 TI 4200 128.

How bout I go for the 6800gt as I already have the 6600gt. The 4200 is my old card. My reserve if you will. It was a great card but nowhere near as good as my 6600gt.
