Geforce4 MX 440SE 64MB AGP DUAL VGA $49.99 NO rebates @ microcenter

It's tough to justify purchasing video cards outside of Newegg's refurb section to me.

Drivers I can download. Newegg takes returns (and refunds shipping) if the manufacturer won't replace it. And MX440SE is pretty slow, compared to the new cards coming out. If I was buying something for the parents, I'd put in a GF2MX. 🙂

Not a bad price. The vendor doesn't seem to have much history. Their reseller rating is not bad.

FYI This card is not so great though. For $10-15 more you can get R8500 from newegg which is a 10x better card.

Microcenter is reputable. They're a large company with several very very large retail stores the size of supermarkets. Additionally, their B&M return policy on hardware is 30 days no-questions-asked. Not sure about the online policy, though...but they are a reputable company - if you want what they have on sale - other than that, you're paying MSRP.

Just a note: microcenter's returns policy also includes a 15% restocking fee, which i found out about today 🙁 Reputable seller, at least B&M anyway, and usually has the best prices on regular stuff compared to other B&M's.

They do have piles of this card in the chicago store, if anyone's interested.

-D.

The restocking fee, is that for online purchases? I'm wondering because I had bought a video card instore from them a month back and returned it and I was not charged any restocking fee. What item did you return that had a restocking fee on it?

Fry's has the MX440SE 128mb for $49 after rebate.

But it does not have dual VGA. And there is the dreaded rebate thing.

didn't buy...was thinking of buying. Asked in store, and they said they had a 15% restocking fee for anything that was returned, at the chicago store (don't know if this is a nation-wide policy, or just here).
