I have it set up properly and can move MSN or anything else onto the extended desktop on my TV. Problem is when I try playing Powerdvd movies, and I move Powerdvd onto the TV display, I only get a black picture. I can see the word "play" when the movie first starts playing. When I move it back to my monitor desktop, it is fine.

I tried setting both monitor and TV refresh rates the same, but no dice.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

the problem is that TV out will only display video on one of your 2 display devices.

go to:
[control panel/display/settings]
click the advanced button.
tha will open graphics card settings
somewhere in your graphics cards setting you need to change the display device you want to see the movie on to pirmary.

you dont need to use the extended desktop unless you just want that.

I use my TV as primary, and the monitor in my bedroom as secondary

you need Zoom Player

This program is great for using your extended desktop (ED) as a TV-out (it doesn't need to be primary). You can configure Zoom Player to automatically open fullscreen on your ED, and will still be able to use your computer normally while the movie plays...

I play Divx, MPEGS and DVD's perfectly with this setup!

I did not get to try Zoomplayer, but I switched the TV to be primary and I still could not get playback on the TV. PowerDVD works fine on the monitor.

What am I doing wrong? My onboard AGP is the primary and the Geforce4 PCI w/ s-video out is the 2nd, with no monitor hooked up to it.

I would have used the PCI for all and disable the onboard AGP, but I could not get that to function stable, and my new bios is not here yet.

wait, are you running off the graphics Card or your integrated AGP?

you've got to get the card working 1st, then the monitor and the TV should both plug into your card. If you can't plug the monitor into it you'll really have troubles getting the TV to work. plug your monitor into card,

thats when you switch the TV to primary.

you've got to get the card working first, explain that situation more.

I am using my monitor on the integrated AGP and just the s-video out on the PCI card. The PCI card works fine, and I can get the primary desktop to be either on the monitor or the TV. I cannot run the PCI card as primary VGA because it does not work properly, otherwise I would stop using the integrated AGP altogether.

So, I can output the desktop to TV or extend the desktop to the TV and visa versa. It is just that I cannot get the PowerDVD movies to appear on the TV. I can see anything else on the TV like Outlook Express, MSN IM, etc.

Money's tight, but I will give it a try. I would prefer using the extended desktop for movies instead of switching primary monitor output each time.
