<< I found BESTBUY has Visiontek Geforce4 MX 420 64MB PCI for $79 after $30 rebate. (there is no info on their website)

This is could be extremely great deal to those need good PCI video card for their small system.....like Shuttle's SV24, 25 or their new SS40 mini system.

some of you people whine so much. I'm borrowing someone's PCI GF2MX200 right now for my SV24 - this would be a hot deal for me. Thanks TimeKeeper!

I have this card in one of my GW-6400 servers, IMHO a very good deal!
I think BB also has the 32MB version for $59 after rebate.

can anyone verify this? (not that i dont believe you or anything, but its nice to have confirmation)
If this is true the 32mb one for 59 dollars seems like a much better deal for all you out there looking for a pci card to do dual moniters. And even if you need it as your main card, if i understand correctly from what i've heard in the past. Adding 32mb more of SDR doesn't improve performance for gaming much (as it is the speed of the ram that is the primary bottleneck).

I heard the G4 mx is just a newer model of the g2 mx. No shaders or any of the goodies that made the Geforce 3 special. Even very little change as far as performance.

I think u would be right

I went to BB and this is what I got <from receipt>:

4465297 30001523 $119.99
Visiontek GeForce 4 MX420 64M

It came with a $20 VisionTek MIR
This was the pci version. They did have a different card for $80 after $30 rebates. I could not tell the difference but they would not adjust the price so I returned it.

Can anyone that got this card check your receipt with the numbers above. Thanks.

should be alright, unless you're running really high resolution on that second monitor. even then it might still be alright, since visiontek is somewhat more reputable than others.

Try something else.

I went to the store...the card was 119-20 rebate. The pci gforce2 was 49.99 after 10 rebate. How the heck did you get the geforce 4 for 80? Not a bad deal if I could find it...

So I should just stick with my new GF2 MX 64MB PCI?? from what I've been hearing it doesn't seem worth the trouble of returning it or trying to get what I paid for it on ebay....I guess I'll just stick with my plan of not upgrading again until Doom 3 😀

don't let them confuse you. it's conceivably the best PCI card YOU CAN GET RIGHT NOW (as far as power).
the only thing that should give you pause is that you said "I guess I'll just stick with my plan of not upgrading again until Doom 3" because as you probably already know, this will not use the feature sets of dv8 and such. course if one is still agp-slotless, this may be the best that one can do...
