GeForce4 demos

I need help...I just got my Visiontek Geforce4 Ti4200 128mb videocard, and I'd like to run the demos included on the driver disk to see what it can do.

When I click on the ".exe." files in the demos folder, nothing happens. I briefly get an hourglass, buts that's it. I downloaded the wolfam exe from Nvidia's website and it installed and worked, except I got an error when I existed.

Also, I had a heck of a time installing the drivers. I think I have them in correctly now. I'm using the .2942s from Nvidia's website. I'm running Win98SE.

I'd like to get the demos to install from the disk. Is there some other software I need first?

Do you have Microsoft DirectX8 installed? The demos won't run without it.

That Wolfman demo is pretty incredible, and looks similar to what we've seen in the Doom3 videos. Expect Doom3 to be THAT good. Amazing....
wondering if it will run on anything besides a GF4 though? Anyone wanna try?

Hmm, R8500 supports all of the GF4's features doesn't it? Or maybe nvidia just put a thing in there to prevent it from working on a non-nvidia card, regardless of features.

I bet you got the deal at Best Buy, right GarlicBreath? Anyways, I just got mine from there. I only ran one of the GF4 demos, but it ran fine. It took take awhile to load though. Maybe you just need a bit more patience, or you could try copying it to your hard drive to see if it loads faster.

Right, Best Buy it was. I'll try as you suggested now. Thanks. I'm not hopeful, though. Which file names exactly are you clicking on to install the demos?
