Card: GeForce Ti200 (VisionTek)

I have this message in event viewer Source = NV

parse error on cmd cd
00000000 000018f8 00f8f8fb 00000010 00f8f8b

at the same time i have a black screen for about 2 seconds (and it sounds like screen resolutions are changing but they are the same when the screen reappears) I now have this problem with various drivers (30.82, 40.72, 41.09, 42.68). Has anyone else seen this? This is driving me crazy....... I am ready to rip out the card, put all the drivers on a CD and fire up the BBQ to make a GeForce Grilled Cheese....

Here is some other info:
VisionTek GeForce 3 Ti 200 @ 200 / 475 (also has problem not OC)
p4 1.7 @ 1.9
Soyo Dragon Ultra PS4
768 Crucial PC2100
XP

With all driver installations I have removed the drivers before installing and shut down Antivirus software...

Please Help!!

1st I'd put your CPU back to 1.7GHz and then try it. If it still doesn't work than there's a problem with your GeForce3-Ti200. Try it in a friend's machine before tossing it. Can you RMA it?:)

Or, you can try Det Destroyer. Seeing how youve tried almost every detonator driver there is, you should try to wipe them all out.
You can find the Det Destroyer program at this link.

Try this first and reinstall the latest "30.xx" detonator drivers. Worth a try because I hear that the GeForce Ti200 makes for a horrible grilled cheese.:)
Good Luck

Detonator Destroyer does not support XP. However, I did use Driver Cleaner.

I was actually running old 23.27 driver for about 1 year on this box with no problems at all.... Then decided to

1) Upgrade to DirectX 9
2) Install latest video drivers

Now, when I revert back to the original drivers (23.27) I am getting an infinite loop error..... And XP notifies me that it has recovered from a hardware failure..... From what I have been reading about the infinite loop error the card is possibly shot.... Any ideas?

Thanks for your posts!

I am having tha same problem as you on my rig. The simiarities that I see are that we both have a geforce 3 Ti200 (mine's MSI), DirectX 9.0 and 30.82 or higher drivers (I'm currently at 40.72s). My event viewer does not go back far enough to the date that I installed DX9 so I can't remember if I was having this error with DX8.1. I installed DX9 to try to resolve an application error that I was getting on NHL 2003 and since then I have been noticing the Event 6 NV error about " parse error on cmdcd blah, blah, blah".

I have tried a multitude of different drivers and a repair install of XP to ensure I didn't have a bad system file somewhere but still the error persists. I have also upgraded the cooling on the video card to be sure that heat was not a factor. I mostly get the error when I try to run 3dMark2001 in a loop for extended periods, but it will also crop up periodically in games etc.

After all this, and reading your posts, I am starting to believe that there is an incompatibility with the geforce3 ti200 / DX9 / and 4x.xx drivers combination. There is supposed to be full backward compatibility with DX8 but there may be bugs (afterall this is Microsoft). I was hoping that my repair install of XP would revert me back to DX8 but it stayed at DX9. My DX8.1 system restore point won't work either so I think my only hope of getting back to DX8 is to use the DX9 Uninstall tool on Majorgeeks.com. It appparently works with your XP install disk to uninstall DX 9 and reinstall DX8. Failing this I think I am looking at a clean install.

If you look at the DX9 file list it is full of files with "parser" in the name leading me to believe there is a linkage to "parse errors".

Have you managed to make any progress on this problem since your post or has your gf3 become a BBQ victim?
