KevinH: Newegg is a "Internet" store front for MWave. It's kind of like making competition for themselves. The reason why you can't Will Call at Newegg is because all they have there is a couple of CSR's and desks! I think items are still shipped from MWave's warehouse.

-Jimbo

P.S. Some of the broken links on Newegg's site also are broken links on MWave's site..lol :)

You guys would be fools to buy this. First off, its no name brand I have ever heard of. Second, $200 for a 64 meg, just wait till geforce3's come out, Name brand G2 64meg ultra's will be around $200-250 or so after awhile.

Also, just to point out, the Geforce2 32 megs and 64 megs are almost identical in frame rates in 1024x768 and below. Only if you play higher than that, will you see a slight fps boost. And you can get a Geforce2 32 meg now for $130. Id wait for the G2 ultra to upgrade myself.

Kovalen, the picture of the 3DPower Pro at Shentech looks EXACTLY like an Leadtek Pro because of the oversize heatsink. Hmmmmm, I hope mine has the oversize heatsink when it arrives.

Xgamer, it's a Geforce2 PRO for $200 shipped, quite the bargain right now because of the 5ns RAM, the factory increased memory clock, and TV-out. I can play this card for a month or two, sell it on eb@y and not lose a cent, and take the money and upgrade to the Ultra for a few bucks more at that time :)

Hmm, well if someone does actually get theirs, let us know if the TVOut is decent... most of the Pros are the same darn reference design but I'm not too sure about the components fer TVOut...
But yeah, mostly likely the Pro will drop when the GF3 is released... probably to 32 Meg GTS levels now... that'd be sweet.
:D

Back in stock.

I am debating between this and the Radeon 64 VIVO for about $165 shipped. It's what I will have to live with for at least another year.

Doobie brought up a very interesting point. Look at the card at newegg then search for the leadtek one on the site. Except for the heatsink and the video out, the cards are IDENTICAL. Even down to the numbers on them (look at the top right corner).

Im not a video card expert or anything, and dont flame me if Im stupid on this, but is there any chance that this is a leadtek sold under 3d powers name? I know they are both heavily taken from the reference design, but the similarities are rather amazing.

Doh! Didn't get the card today, but hopefully it will be here tomorrow and I can post some numbers tomorrow night. Won't be trying the TV-out cuz it's WAY on the other side of the apartment :)

I saw this deal a few days ago and was thinking about it. I did some searching and found that 3dPower doesn't have a Geforce Pro on their site. no problem there I guess cause Leadtek sells stuff before it's on their site. this usually leads to doctored pictures and/or webpages so that companies can show the correct product. Here's a few links I found though :

http://store6.yimg.com/I/shentech_1627_945558

http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?image=14-126-001-01.JPG/14-126-001-02.JPG

The thing I'm noticing is that the pictures are not the same. One has a verifiable larger heatsink on it (although the Elite 5ns blowup looks a little fake ot me). I would hold off on this even if it's in stock til the first batch of cards are shipped and received. If this does turn out to be 6ns RAM, then this is a real bad deal. I know Newegg promises this is a Pro card, but I still don't trust them that much.

On a unrelated note, has anyone ordered/received the Radeon LE with Tv-out yet from newegg ? I'm just wondering what the tv chip is on it and if it's the same overall card as the plain radeon LE.

EDIT1: Don't forget that the Leadtek Enhanced cards can give you some terrific performance with 5.5ns RAM. The 32MB version (suitable up to 1024X768 or maybe 1280X1024) goes for 35 bucks less than the 3dPower and is from a somewhat better name (not Hercules or Else here folks). Add in the ability to do svideo and composite out (not just svideo) and this could be a better deal for people only doing 800X600 or 1024X768. Hey you could use the extra 35 bucks towards a tv-tuner card .. or ... a GEFORCE3!! Then you only need to save like 465 bucks more ... cool ..

Apoppin,

If you're using Win2K or planning on it, steer far clear of the Ati. As for a Geforce Pro for 200 bucks, it probably isn't as future proof as the Ati is , but it will give you more fun right now and be easier to install. Something else I noticed is that the Ati's under Win98 actually do better than Geforce Pro's with certain game negines like Unreal Tournament. In my case, that's pretty much the only 3d game I play, so I was considering the VIVO. If you are planning on the VIVO though, consider the Radeon LE on newegg with TV-out. I'm assuming here that it's the same as the Radeon LE , jsut with some Tv chip. The TV-out won't be as nice as the VIVO 64MB, but you may not care. The TV-in on the vivo is composite only, so for the difference in price, you could buy a nice Tv-tuner card and get the whole shebang, with the only real difference being (Radeon LE overclocked) the extra RAM on the card.

Anyone received it yet? If so can you tell us if it has the right specs and everything (400 mhz mem, any other things you can think of).

Again, if it is what they say it is then it is well worth the price. At the moment the performance difference between the Pro and Ultra do not justify a $150 premium.

$250 on the other hand and I'd jump at the chance for an Ultra. Maybe by this summer.....

Well, it finally came in today and just completed a round of 3DMark2000. First of all, it looks exactly like the pic in the link of my first post - I mean exactly. Second, it includes a driver CD (labeled 3DPower Ultimate Driver CD v1.0.10 - has the Nvidia Detonator v6.34 but I'm using v6.35), one S-video cable and one RCA adapter cable. It all comes in a plain brown box with no documentation. One thing that kind of freaked me out is the heatsink was dangling by one pushpin (the other had popped out), but the core was peachy with no damage or scratches. No adhesive was under the heatsink, just some thermal paste, so I removed the paste with alcohol, applied Arctic Silver and attached the heatsink - snug fit with no problems whatsoever. My next project is to attach a Blorb to this puppy and OC it a bit (I don't want to chance it with the generic heatsink and Adda fan). It's running at 200/400 (core/memory) and I played some Quake III on it right when I popped it in - it kicked ass.
Here are the 3DMarks:
1024x768x16, 16-bit textures, 16-bit z-buffer, triple frame buffer, d3d hardware t&l-Score: 7363
1024x768x32, 32-bit textures, 24-bit z-buffer, triple frame buffer, d3d hardware t&l-Score: 5596
All in all, I'd say it rocks and for the $200 I paid for it, I'm one happy camper :)
If you have any questions, email me at pduboise@hotmail.com because Austin's Road Runner Pop-3 server has been on the fritz for a few days so I'm using Hotmail until RR is back up. I'm definitely keeping this card until the Ultra's are reasonable ;)

I have to agree, definitely worth it.

Old Score with Creative Annihilator 2:
1024x768x16, 16-bit textures, 16-bit z-buffer, triple frame buffer, d3d hardware t&l-Score: 7280
New Score same drivers and everything:
1024x768x16, 16-bit textures, 16-bit z-buffer, triple frame buffer, d3d hardware t&l-Score: 8210

I did however notice some strange effects every so often that I hadnt noticed before with the creative, though It might be that it isnt as tolerant of high FSB speeds as my old card.

I received a 600 point boost when I used nVidia's drivers instead of Creative's for my Annihilator Pro . . .

Was using reference drivers 6.72, Win2k, VIA 4.29 Drivers, and DX8. That is about as even as good a software setup as I could get for my tests.

So far in every game Ive played (I work for EB, so I have a lot) this board has been excellent. Even if it is cheap, it is still a very good card. Hope it comes back in stock for those who missed it.
