First of all, you can't rule out that it's the Geforce2 MX chip that has made your system CRAPPY. There can be a possibility that you have something wrong with your card or software that interacts improperly with your card. It's really hard to say. Try the card in another system. This may give you a better idea if there is really something wrong with the card. Good Luck trying to figure out what's wrong. It's probably right under your nose.

Well lets throw 3dmark right out the window.

Put your memory at 100 Cas 2, test, then try 133, Cas 2, and test. If there is instability, move it back a step.

Run Quake3 and tell me how many frames you get. Demo 001, 800x600x32. Ill find a link to Win2k comparable system speeds and we can compare.

Troubledshooter ,you can get the 5.22 drivers & the rest from here ,there are problems with the Detonator 3 drivers & KT133 chipset so try Detonator 2 drivers.

I've got a Hercules MX board on a TBird 750, and I haven't had any problems at all. (I am currently running with the side of the case off at 900MHz) If you didn't do a cleat install after puttind in a new CPU/mobo, I suggest you archive what you need and reformat and reinstall. If you have ruled out heat, it has to be drivers. I know my upgrade got a little hairy when I didn't do a clean reinstall. (Make sure you install the 4in1 drivers it is really necessary)

One suggestion:

Don't install the manufacturers drivers, install the general nvidia drivers.

Well, top link to AMD/MS worked earlier, now it seems to be gone. Did the manual one just now. Grabbed the Nvidia 5.32 divers (det. 2) from their website in lieu of the eVGA ones. Rebooted, tried Q3.

1024x768x32x32 (color and texture) 42.6 FPS. That is a little low, but ballpark I would say. 3dmark is futzed. Oh well, good test of stability.

Stepped RAM up to pc133 but left it @ CAS3. If it dies now, I can send it back to micron.

Trying now.

thanks again

No serriously dude...I'm having your same problem. Check this link out http://www.abit-usa.com/english/index.htm then go to faq, motherboards, and then KT7 You ahve to maunually set your AGP driving value under advanced chipset features. Try DA or EA. DA works on my GTS 2
Then install via 4-in 1.

Well, PC133 @950 is stable too. A tiny bit faster in 3dMark. Dunno if it was the reg. patch from the MS site, or the 3.4 I/O voltage, or what, but im running along.

2126 now. Woot. Almost half what I feel like I should be getting.
2126

Hrmz.

BTW, that is PC133 with 4k page mode enabled, and 4-way interleave just tested. Will try adding CAS2 to the list next, but I'm starting to lose sight of the goal...2126 seems pretty awful. Even if Q3a FPS is decent, how can I test like D3D? (I only have demo of Q3, and dont have UT or anything else that uses it to my knowlede. Is there a demo?)

thanks

BTW, do I have permission to claim my processor is stable yet? :p

Culprit 1: CAS2

Alas, she just can't do it. Frankly, though, I'll take the 200mhz more, over the CAS2.

Any methods of testing non-opengl 3d apps other than 3dmark?

thanks

<< Microsoft Windows®2000 Patch for AGP Applications on AMD Athlon? and AMD Duron? Processors
Description of Issue
An issue has been identified that could result in the corruption of video data shared between AGP graphics adapters and AMD Athlon? or AMD Duron? processors when running Microsoft Windows®2000. This issue is independent of system chipset and has been observed when running Ziff-Davis 3D WinBench?2000 and Mad Onion 3DMark? 2000 in benchmarking mode.

Solution
AMD and Microsoft have worked together to identify a patch that involves adding a key to the registry. To add the key run the registry key installation file below or add the registry key as detailed in Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q270715. AMD recommends that AMD Athlon and AMD Duron users with AGP graphics adapters running Windows 2000 install this patch.

The link, hopefully works.
