Today I upgraded my system with a new processor I got from Compuwiz1 (thanks again Steve).
All was going well, everything was working fine until I had the thought of moving my ram chips around a bit to see why I couldn't get the system up to 133 FSB.
The board (Abit BH6) has it's AGP close enough to the dimm slots that it's easier to remove the video card and then pull out the ram. I was doing this and then putting the video card back in and testing when about the third time the video came up with colored bands up and down the screen.
I've pulled a lot of video cards, ram and cpu's and have never seen anything like this before.
For the life of me I could not get it to work. I took it over to my wifes computer and put it in there and got the same display.
Now I have my old TNT2 card back in my machine and the Geforce2 card will not work, same vertical colored bands up and down the screen.
I liked my old TNT2 card, but would much rather have my new Geforce2 card work again. Does anyone
have any ideas about what I could try to get it going again. I just got the thing about 10 days ago.

I had the same problem with the Asus V7700 GeForce2 GTS.
Its something to do with the VIA drivers you install.
Don't install the VGART driver for video, and use the normal GeForce2 drivers and everything should work as normal.:)

hmmm... I was using the Det 6.47 drivers. It worked great for about 10 days then went gunnybag.
THey did issue the RMA and I sent the card in and that't the last I heard.
I hope a new one shows up at my door someday.

hey Zartac,

Do you get very fine horizontal lines across your monitor?
I have these lil' lines ... very hard to see but sometimes noticable.
Happened ever since i used Detonator 3.

Are there are updates for the nvidia drivers?

I sometimes get little white lines horizontally on my tnt2 card when running the default mem and core speeds. These go away when I bump them up 25%.

When i first iinstalled the VIA drivers for video display, every time i booted my system, I would get these wierd green wavy lines all over my monitor. with a block of green at the top and bottom.
after ditching the default drivers, (not installing the VGART drv) my video worked fine except for tons of VxD errors of which i'm still having difficulties with.
Since then I have uninstalled all video drv's and re-iinstalled the latest det drv's and everything seems to be working fine, so far...

Losty, I have noticed the same thing. It was really noticeable with the early 6.xx drivers, not as bad with 6.49 now. With 5.30 drivers, plain fields were really clear, now they seem kind of grainy. For example, if I look closely at the password box above this I can count about 8 or 9 thin horizontal lines in that space. They are also quite noticeable in the grey colored field surrounding this text box. It is really only noticeable at 1024x768 res. Anything lower or higher and I don't notice it. I've decided to put up with it for the 3D performance of the 6.xx drivers, but sure wish I could get rid of it.
