I keep trying to overclock my Geforce 3 Ti500 and it keeps locking up in games.
I only put if from default (240/500) to (245/540) and it locks up after a while of gaming. I got good cooling for it. I got a fan on side blowing right on it too. my case has awesome ventailation. Is it my core thats doing it or my memory?? I want to get more speed out of this card tilli buy NV30

Increase the core and memory speeds independantly, until you lock up. If the core locks first, you could try a different heatsink, and if the RAM locks first, you could try adding RAM heatsinks. You'll have to do the legwork here, not us :)

 I'm afraid it's not good news. TI500 a lot like Rad8500, Xabre400, GF4TI4600, GF4MX460 and even GF2ultra, just like the Cely 1.8-1.9ghz, AthlonXP2000+ - XP2200+ are all simply far too near their technical limits to yield much at all from o/c'ing. This is why TI200, Rad8500LE, GF4TI4200, GF4MX420/440 and GF2GTS are all so popular as they have a lot more headroom in them.

;) In any case GF3TI500 isn't that far behind GF4TI4200 in most cases and still has excellent 2xAA ability, it should more than tide you over to NV30, with or without an o/c. In the case of modding your card (HSF & RAM HS) it's very unlikely to help much if at all, all it is likely to do is invalidate your warranty. I'd say stay put and be happy, your card's still way better than GF4MX, Xabre400 and even Rad9000 so be patient and be happy as TI500 is still a great performer!

Overclocks are never guaranteed; if you wanted a guaranteed faster card you should have payed for one.
