I have a new XFX Geforce 7800GTX overclocked version Vid card that I bought last month. I am thinking of getting a second card to take advantage of SLI.
Do I have to use the same exact card for SLI to work?
I ask because the 7800GTX i have is 256 memory, but if I bought a Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX 512mb card (difference in memory and manufacturer) would they still work together in SLI mode? Thanks.

No, I don't think that they would. With the new 80's drivers from nvidia, you do not need to buy the card from the same manufacturer anymore, you can now say pair up a xfx with an evga, or a gigabyte with a xfx. However, the cards do have to be from the same line of cards, and if thats the 7800GTX 256MB edition, I think you would have to stick to that.

This is *supposed* work with some of the beta drivers (and should eventually make its way into the WHQL ones), but I don't know if it is fully supported right now.

I'd check with your card's manufacturer before you lay out the cash.
