Sorry Yu22, but this has been beaten to death. The V5 is a fine card, but still substandard.

P.S. That doesn't seem right at all. The V5 has quite a bit more bandwith than the MX. Methinks they fudged up the numbers or the labeling. *shrugs*

if you read their pathetic review, they used a p3-550 in Quake 3 for god's sake. First off q3a uses T&L and is not the definitive benchmark of the world (you wanna know why? because the game blows goats thats why, it has like 2 good maps, UT is waaay better). Also they only used a p3-550 which is too slow for all those cards. READ THE FINE PRINT, yes the geforce is a fine card, and yes the voodoo5 is what i use (hey it looks good in counterstrike leave me alone). I am not some insane zealot, but i dont like ignorant posts. got that. good.

Voodoo5 is just unimpressive. If it was only $100 I would get one in a flash, but for $300, it is suck.

yeah i can see where you are coming from, i wouldn't ever pay the full $300 for a v5 ( i bought mine used in the forsale forum for $220 shipped). ALl the cards are $200+ there except the MX. I saw the prophetmx hercules at fry's i think its $150. which is a good value, but i've had less problems with 3dfx (i value my 2d quality, nvidia at 1600x1200 usually isn't that great due to lame ass manufacturers cutting costs).

Q3 does suck...it's just mindless, fast-paced blazing gun blasting and jumping.

And I don't suck at it; I've beaten Anand, Jason, Manny, Kiran, and Matt in a few games of Q3 deathmatch (albeit 3 out of about 40 games )

Hahah...I know what you mean. I actually did play it for a bit, but it got boring quick. It's too slow-paced IMO. Quake3 is definitley HARD CORE BABY!!

You need lightning quick reflexes, you have to be able to make split second decisions, and you need deadly aim to win in quake3 = HARD CORE

UT = slow-paced, gay-weapon, snore-fest

edit: oh yeah, and UT's physics leave much to be desired

I havent had the pleasure of playing Rocket Arena, but will try this week. Sounds fun.

UT is the only way to go. Much more variety and it actually takes skill to play the game. Not just holding down the fire button and running through the level as you hear *ping* *ping* *ping* *ping* as you pop your opponent.

UT also has MUCH better weapons (Redeemer in guided mode, nuff said), tons of levels (better designed too), and better multiplayer options and variety.

You can like what you want, but quake from quake1 on to quake3 has always been my bag.
