Geforce GTX 560 comes next year has 384 shaders. Rumours.

Geforce GTX 460 was Nvidia's life saver, and all reports are indicating that it has been selling well. Even AMD admitted that to its analists. This is the main reason why Nvidia won’t release a new GTX 560 until early next year. This is the card that is supposed to replace the GTX 460.

The new card is based on GF114 chip, which is an improved GF104 with better clocks and all eight clusters enabled. If you enable all eight clusters the number of shaders jumps from current 336 to 384. The math behind is very simple. “Each Streaming Multiprocessor(SM) in the GPU of GF104/106/108 architecture contains 48 SPs and 8 SFUs Special Function Unit” more here.

Also the complete GF104 core contains 64 texture address units and 512 texture filtering units. The number of SFUs jumps from 56 to 64. You can also expect a significant increase in clock speed as well as memory and the “new” card will run at higher than 675MHz core and 1350MHz shaders.

The launch of the card is a sales decision and it will come only if Radeon HD 6870 and 6850 see dramatic price cuts and put additional pressure on Nvidia. If all goes as planned you will see this card early next year.*

We expect some average 15 to 20 percent performance increase from GTX 560 compared to GTX 460.

Of course GF104 had all these clusters inside but Nvidia has simply dissabled one as it didn't need so much performance back at the summer time.

Sickamore scouring teh internetz for teh gossipz!!!!

384 shaders, 64 TMU's, Higher clocks and shader domains. Should easily give it 20% over 460.

I will never buy a amd card ever. I tried it twice for two months and it didnt feel right. I will wait on nvidia no matter what problems they are having. Bonafide geforce.

Where does that put it performance wise? GTX470?

Chaffing? You can get cream for that.

Seriously, once I've installed my card I usually forget whats in there until I have to update the drivers.

Sigh.

"I will never buy an INFERIOR card again. I tried it twice for 2 months and just didnt feel right. I will wait for a SUPERIOR card no matter what problems they are having. Bonafide UN-BIASED NORMAL CONSUMER"

Sorry, i forgot, an Nvidia card thats slower than an AMD one gets pixie dust sprinkled on it to make it magically faster. Those tricky little fairies :sneaky: They do look like they are making a strong comeback though, very interesting in seeing these new cards. As bad as Fermi was, they were geniuses for leaving it locked and underclocked so that they could do this.

What i was trying to say is i have always used nvidia cards for my gaming. Then i built two rigs this year. Tried two amd cards and i wasnt feeling it. Loyalty and respect i have for nvidia. If they are going through hard time doesn't mean i have to jump ship. Yeah nvidia is making money in the end i am satisfied with what they have given me in the past and what they will be giving me now.

Alot of you amd boys are secret nvidia lovers. So go ahead bash me i dont care.

Trolling in your own thread. You don't think you can lay down the gauntlet and not have people respond?

This is your one warning. Knock it off.

I don't really care what brand of card I use, as long as it makes the magical pretty pictures appear on my screen.

Hopefully it'll be slightly better than a 470, while being a lot cooler and much less of a power hog. Based on what we've seen from the 460 I have high expectations that Nvidia will deliver with the 560.

A 560 SLI for under $460.00 would be glorious.

From what everyone is speculating that might be doable.

580 - 499.99
570 with 480 Shaders - 399.99
565 with 440? shaders - 299.99
560 with 384 shaders - 239.99
550 with 288-300 shaders - 179.99??? Maybe???

That would put 470ish performance in a ~225 dollar part. My my how the tables have turned within a few short weeks.

Even though I may not be in the market for these cards and am AMD biased, i love the 460-560 comeback and what it's doing for us customers. The 560 may find itself as the card that suits my needs best at my next upgrade cycle : P

Thats a very good guess, I agree. I also think prices will be lower then this if AMD ever gets there 69xx series out the door.
I also think they will just rebrand the gtx460 and make it a gtx 550.

From a G100 part that is larger, more power hungry, and louder. An actual product designed for that segment with that kind of performance is pretty nice.

Well there are other GPUs that are out there. You can get a 5850 for under $200 now, and a 6870 was designed for this segment. They are both a little slower than a 470 but basically the same level, then again the article states a 15-20% performance bump over a 460 which would fall at or a little below a 470.

Any way when do you guys think these will launch if all doesn't go as planned?

Haha what's that supposed to mean? So if you put a GTX480 sticker on top of your HD5870 card, would it make you feel better?

For example, let's say there were 2 computers in front of you and you were asked to play an identical game. The 2 computers had different graphics cards - 1 by AMD, 1 by NV. You could tell which computer had an NV card by "feeling it"? That's some 6th sense I say!

I see you clarified that you are more loyal to NV; hence feeling betrayed you bought a competing product. I guess I can understand that. Some people are on their 4-5th Honda Civic/Honda Accord/Toyota Camry and are 100% loyal to that brand. Some people buy AMD CPUs regardless of what Intel has. To each his own I guess. As long as you buying something, the gaming community gets bigger and faster so that developers can take advantage of it.
