Hmm just did a search and I did not see one topic based on this link.

I did not read all Geforce FX topics to see if someone went off topic and posted it though within a thread.

Sorry if you already read it :)

Visiontek is dead and never coming back. I'd like to see them come back as an ATI builder. They had a good product when they were working with Nvidia as a major retail supplier. They were #1 for a long time. I don't understand how they fell off that mark so quickly.

It's because while their products performed great out of the box, all those manufacturing and materials shortcuts showed up in such
mass that they could hide it no longer...... (example: the thermal pad on the GF4 heatsink... crystalizes the first time it gets good and hot. Not to mention those wonderfully squeaky fans!)

Quality isn't really more expensive.... just costs more up front.

Cheapazzed manufacturing IS expensive. *cough* (Chaintech, MSI, etc....) *cough*

I have a VisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4200 128MB and I'm extremely happy with it, it's a great overclocker.

I'm glad it is working well for you, as it is for many.

If you plan on having it a long time (especially since you OC) I
highly recommend you get some good thermal compound' (I like Arctic Silver II or III)
chisel off that thermal pad and give it the cooling that will extend it's life.

The cooler is easily removed by squeezing the push-pins from the reverse side with
a pair of needle nose and pushing them through the PCB. Then firmly lift the cooler
to break the crystalized interface. Clean off all the remnants trying not to scratch the heat sink
Apply a THIN layer of thermal compound and replace the cooler to it's original mounting.

ThermalTake makes a copper cooler that is very inexpensive (about $12.00 at BestBuy or less on-line)
replacing the whole thing will potentially save you from the premature fan motor failures experienced
frequently on this video card.

Linky to a decent cooler that doesn't cost too much
