Hi ,

I have a GeForce FX 5200 GFX Card , and it,s been running fine for ages
but then the Driver messed up and in the hardware summary its got a yellow
( ! ) next to it ,

The Card wont run right like this at all , when scrolling up/down webpages
it jumps and lags.

Ive tried the Driver that came with it and it wont work it keeps saying need
nv4_mini.sys and ive downloaded the latest drivers from nVidia , but when i go to install
them the computer crashes to a black screen with a little flashing white line [ like the little
line that flashes when typing ] on the top left of screen.

Can anyone help with this ?

Thank You

Is there anything you can get that can search and remove old drivers .

Yes.

Get Driver Cleaner.

Try removing all the drivers with that; then reinstalling the latest ones (don't use the ones on a CD; they are usually outdated).

If all else fails...i would reformat.

Others may know more about that particular card than me, since i'm used to ATI.

Good Luck!

I had this problem with my PNY FX5200. It wouldn't accept ANY drivers except the ones on the CD out of the box. Not on the PNY site, not on the NVidia site, not even a reformat would sort the problem out.

I'm not saying this is the case with yours, just be wary, lol. It was VERY annoying.

This might sound dumb, but did you try setting your drivers to a 'Standard VGA driver' BEFORE you upgraded to the latest drivers ?

Something like, however your system is now, set it to use a standard driver, reboot once its changed, for changes to take effect. The go update your drivers to the latest ones, and reboot after they install for changes to take effect again, last i knew that was the standard procedure for updating display drivers ( maybe just for Nvidia not sure ) but it's solved the odd problem for me doing things that way.

Thanks for the help people . :)

I ended up doing a fresh install
and it was still the same , so i tried manually installing the driver alone
with out all the other stuff and after downloading 3 different releases of
Drivers i got 1 that works .:Q
