Hello,

Sorry about my ignorance in this matter, but I would love to upgrade my video card and don't know if my power supply will allow for it. Here are my CURRENT specs:

CPU:
Intel Pentium D 840 Dual Core

MOTHERBOARD:
Brand: Dell
0X8582
Chipset: i045P/PL/G/GZ

GRAPHIC INTERFACE:
PCI Ecpress
Link Width X16

VIDEO CARD:
NVidia GeForce 6800

POWER SUPPLY:
Dell 375 Watt

I was wondering if I can successfully upgrade to the GeForce 8800 GTS. I understand the power supply can play a big role and all I really know about it is that it is a Dell and it is 375 Watts.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you,

Darren

it'll be close... I have a dell 9100, it has a p4 3.0ghz, 1.5 gb ram, 8800gts and an xfi sound card... I also have a 375 watt psu and it works. The 12v rating on mine is like 36? i think its 12v a= 18 12v b= 18. I dont know if i would risk it with your specs. the processor would take more power than mine probably. I used power supply calculator for my system when i was thinking of upgrading and it was close so i took a chance.

I run an 8800GTS 640MB on a 380w Seasonic - check your amps against this one and compare.

Yes, it will work, and work just fine.

You have either a Dimension 9100, or XPS 400? Or heck, maybe a Precision 380?

Dell uses the same 375W in all of those, and it does 18A each on both 12V rails.

He doesn't need a new power supply. His PSU will run even an 8800 GTX just fine.

same querry , i have a e6600 on coolermaster 380watt psu , it says 16A on +12v , will it run 320mb 8800gts ?
my PSU offers only 4pin pwr connectors and no 6-pin ones , what type does 8800gts require ? if it is 6pin then is there any way that i can still install it without changing pwr supply (i just brought my pc)

For that PSU, I would say initially, no. What model 380W?

The OP's will work because his PSU can put out more power on the 12V rails.
