GeForce 8800 GT OC + 650W PSU for $235.00

BFG Bundles, I just saw this on HardOCP's front page. Sounded like a good deal.

BFG Performance Bundle (GeForce 8800 GT OC + 650W PSU) $235.00

SLI Power Bundle (2x GeForce 8800 GT + 650W PSU) $410.00

SLI Enthusiast Bundle (2x GeForce 8800 GTS OC + 800W PSU) $580.00

Thats 8800+ps and 2x8800+ps are ok deals, the price to buy them both from newegg ends up being about the same after rebate

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814143118
$169+ship after rebate

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817702003
$59+ship after rebate

The dual card 8800gts bundle is a lot less good.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814143119 $224 after rebate

2 of those for $465 shipped (the rebate can be used to 2 cards per household)
Power supply for $70 after rebate (including shipping)

The first bundle is a smoking deal. Good Video and (I Assume) a good PS. I have never had any problems with my BFG 7800gt.

Plus you dont have to hassle with the rebates! about 1/4 the time I don't even get my rebates sent in!

I did the math comparing these prices vs. Newegg:

Bundle 1: Save $49.98

Bundle 2: Save $74.97

Bundle 3: Save $59.97

Of course, that doesn't include Newegg rebates:

8800 GT rebate: -$30

8800 GTS rebate: -$30

BFG 650W rebate: -$25

BFG 800W rebate: -$30

So AFTER REBATE, Newegg is $5 cheaper on bundle 1, but because you can only use one rebate per household on the graphics cards, bundle 2 is still $20 cheaper than Newegg's after rebate price and bundle 3 is the same price.

And, more importantly, no rebates to deal with. 😀 GOD I hate mail in rebates.

I'm seriously thinking about getting on one of these deals. Jonny you know my situation..

This is the last day I have to request an RMA on my open box MSI 8800GT OC from newegg. I also have a 2 year old Antec SP-500 PSU that I suspect may be in the second half of its life span...

If I get this deal I will be significantly upgrading my PSU and also getting a video card with an actual warranty.

Does anyone know, if you get this deal, can you use BFG's step up program?

Edit: On second thought this deal might not be so good for me. I originally paid $180 for my 8800GT, minus 15% restocking fee I would only get a refund for $153, plus shipping back. For the price difference I could buy an equally good PSU and still have an 8800GT with a nice dual slot cooler.

I think those prices are pretty great, NewEgg may be cheaper but only after rebates which are pretty darn useless, I rather wait for the next paycheck than for a crummy $20 2 months later.

No. Read the terms of the step up program. It's only good for cards released after the step up program was launched (Feb 21st?)

Instead of getting hit with a restocking fee, why not EXCHANGE your current card instead of returning it for a refund. They don't charge restocking fees on exchanges. Only refunds. Then take that 15% you would've otherwise lost and put it towards a new PSU.

I can't exchange my card by returning it to newegg and buying from the BFG store. And there's no need to exchange through newegg because there aren't any better deals currently available through newegg.

Also you can only return open box items for a refund, with no exceptions. On the other hand, any time I've ever wanted to RMA something that wasn't 100% according to the rules at newegg, they always accommodated me.

The whole point of returning would be so I could get the bundle from BFG, but I don't think it's in the cards. I'm better off sticking with the card I have now and buying the best power supply I can afford from wherever.

edit: by the way I still think this is a great deal, it's just not for me because I already got a great deal on an 8800GT very recently. If I hadn't upgraded already, I would be all over this like white on rice.

I'm sorry. I was under the impression there was something wrong with your card and you'd have to RMA it anyways. I didn't realize you were contemplating returning it just so you could get something different. Yeah, the 15% restocking fee makes that not worth it.

Hey Jonny, I was considering this combo but after reviewing the PSU's performance on your website I may have to pass. I already have an Earthwatts 500 that may actually be better than this PSU. What's your opinion?

Well, the BFG is capable of putting out more power, but the Antec is more efficient. If you don't NEED a power supply, this isn't a good deal. Why replace a perfectly good PSU? If you actually needed a PSU and a graphics card, yeah... it's a good deal.

Hi everyone sorry I'm a noob...

Will this BFG power supply work with my Dell E521? Does it have Sata power connectors? (Long ones...?)

The E521 uses a standard ATX size power supply with standard ATX pinouts. It'll work.

Says it has four.

The cables are no longer or shorter than normal (500MM from the housing, I believe.) But an E521 is no larger than any other PC so you shouldn't need unusually long cables.

good job on the calculations!! I have gotten about 5 MIRs back this year, some have to hassle them a bit and wait for like 4-5 months for. But newegg MIRs decent because if they fall through newegg sometimes reimburse the customer.
