GeForce 7800GTX Review

We need to see some tests with farcry hlr or riddick 2+ modes. They are about the only thing that bring the top end graphics cards to their knees.

Like the transparency aa option - that's a pretty big iq improvement and seems to be more efficient then the current gens super sampling modes (which can do the same thing).

So the card has a 19, 34, 36% performance increase in D3, Colin McRae and 3D05 respectively over the 6800U and will probably cost a proportional amount more. Sounds right to me, why all the bashing? If some people already have 6800GT and don't want to justify spending more, fine- but people who are upgrading from the FX series might see enough bang for the buck to skip the 6600/6800 series all together.

I hope these numbers aren't accurate, but I guess we'll see. If it really ends up being this "disappointing" (IMO), then there's no reason to upgrade from my 6800GT at Ultra speeds, and I might as well just buy an A64 X2 instead...
X2 is good choice since multithreading games are behind the corner (unreal 3 engine games).
So 7800gtx can show it's potential when U3 is coupled with dual core processor.
Also X2 is good now, not like 7800gtx.

But if you have high res monitor, like 24" 1920x1200, 7800gtx makes games playable.

More i know, more im impressed.
I sure hope that there is going to be AGP model.. (Not.. weep)..
With 7800 you can buy system today that lasts to 2010 as a highperf gaming machine.

I know a AMD64 3500+ would bottleneck the 7800 Shi*less. Im sticking with a current gen card as it aint worth the upgrade to next gen....

You mean r520 based ?

I think those are released after summer, or just before christmas..

[edit]

It's kinda funny that, guys at xtremesystems need liquid nitrogen to cool CPU to overclock it high enough..
Why ?
So that CPU is not bottleneck to 7800GTX. :Q

It seems that AMD FX at 3.6Ghz is not enough :Q, at least not when they run SLI. :Qx2

All this makes me wonder why some posters in this thread are dissapointed.
Is it because our state of the art CPU's apper to be too slow ?
