Yeah me too, and maybe a 21" LCD to take advantage of it. I'm stunned that this is only $399. I thought for sure it was going to be just $100 less than the GTX's MRSP. If it is, it's the best deal by far. The difference between this gen and last gen is:

- ATI and NVIDIA both paperlaunched last generation. ATI paperlaunched a month later, and got their products to market first IIRC.

- This time, NVIDIA actually got their cards to market while ATI hasn't even paperlaunched, and it's been a month.

So when you look at it, this is worse than it was last gen. Now add to the fact that ATI probably won't come up with a high mid-range until another month or so later, and things are looking grim for competition.

I will get one when they drop to $349! Shouldn't take too long after the release.. I mean, the 7800gtx dropped below MSRP pretty quick.

yup wait for a month or 2 and i think it should drop even lower than that price...hell the GTX is now selling for less than $500 in some places.

Considering the fact that this card has overclocking potential, might have unlockable pipelines this is going to be a sweet card. ATI X850XT looks to be a gonner at the moment.

The entire point of 3dmark is to change the GPU and see how different GPUs score. A faster 3dmark score tends to result from a faster graphics card. Is it an exact science? Absolutely not, but a general indication is there. I admit that 3dmark03 is outdated and that 05 should have been used. But even so, its a good test for your GPU to see if you are getting the score you should be getting.

The real problem of these synthetic benchmarks, as is mentioned by your own link, is that they are extemely popular and easily compromised by driver detection, shader replacement, and a whole other set of cheats, not due to any inherent flaw in the benchmark itself. But that's hardly unique to 3dmark, HL2 itself was equally compromised.

will it work and where will u get xp drivers?

Why are you all assuming it wil be unlockable? Seeing how much nvidia went out of their way to prevent "unlocking" a dfi ultra board, what makes you think they'll make it so easy for you this time? In fact, I cant think of even 1 pci-e card that's unlockable.

It's may be a nice card $399, but I'd still like to see some real benches. At least they could have used 3dmock05, 03 is worthless.

Uhhh I think there are 3rd party drivers. Heard even the official Win 2k drivers work. And XP has drivers for Voodoo right?

I was going to get an X800XL, but seriously... dishing out $300 for something thats about to fall off a cliff is not that great of a feeling. I'd rather wait a month with a crap graphics card. AT least I can play CS =)

This is the same Core as the GTXs.. These cards probably didnt make the GTX standards, hence the pipes were masked. Thats why i assuming that it could be unlockable, just like the 6800 nu AGP. the 6800nu PIC-e was a new core NV41.
The pipes could be either in good shape or dont work etc just like the 6800AGP since the pipes were sometimes defected...

Good thing I bought evga card a couple of weeks ago. I'll definitely be taking advantage of the step up program if it is 399 msrp
