GeForce 7800 - 7900 series Problems with Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling!

These cards can't seem to do Fixed Aspect Ratio scaling where the 6XXX series can. I have searched for a solution and so far there is nothing. If you have a Widescreen LCD you will not be able to scale to resolutions lower than 16x10 without stretching the image (unless your monitor does this by itself) My Viewsonic VX2025wm does not...

Tell me about it. But at least nvidia HAD this feature at one time. ATI only seems to have done it on notebook adapters. With how common LCDs are now, its bullsh|t that both of them having focused on this more.

dont u need dvi? i can only do 1280x960 right without dvi... samsung 915N, nvidia 78.01 w/ 6600GT

From what I gather, you do need DVI for the video card to do it. But the drivers don't have support (or they have broken support in the case of nvidia?) so it doesn't really matter.
