i think they will just disappear off the market. geforce 6600gts never really dropped below $80-90 for new either outside of rebate deals and such..

so you don't think that the card I cited will drop in the next few days? That exact deal from newegg

PS I have a 6600 right now and got it for $50 about 6 months ago

nvidia doesn't discount their cards typically, they just let the vendors eat it. There will be a brief period where the 7600GT will be the better buy (like right now), and in six months when 8600GT's are $100, it will be hard to find 7600GT's. The 7600GS might still be around though, much like the 6600.

i think the 8500gt will just take over for the 7600gs.

the 7600gt has been $90 -110 forever, and i figure you might be able to get one on a rebate deal soon for say $70 if some stores are clearing them out, but probably not for a couple of months when the 8600gt is all over.

wait another 2 weeks when AMD intro the R600s the price should drop some more on all cards. 7600GT ain't wroth the 90 you pay, I think after 2-3 weeks you can get a 7900gs for like 120 AR which is much faster and at a cost that's only slightly higher than 7600gt. or you can also choose from the DX10 parts that can run faster on modern shader rich games that's coming up soon.

The guru3d article I read indicated that the 8500GT would slot in for the 7600GT and the 7600gs would stay put.

Well I'll only have the 7600gt for less than a year, because I don't want to have an wait for the 8800 refresh which some people are saying will be as late as September. (I was thinking it would be out around june) But if you think that the price will drop in a few weeks I can wait and go for a 7900
