Yesterday morning I was doing my daily NewEgg.com visit and I saw both the 6800Ultra & the x800XT for sale,

The eVGA GrForce 6800 Ultra was selling for $559 and the Gainward X800 XT was going for $489. But then I checked back in the afternoon, and both links were dead. And today they went as far as to remove both from the 'Video Chipset' to select, from the Video Card page.

Well, just like a bloated Federal Government construction project, the 6800 cards are over budget, and late! Some 'launch.'

I feel bad for the folks who just 'HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW, DAMMIT!!!!' and are going to pay a significant premium over MSRP.

I think you meant the HIS X800 XT. I think Newegg only got in 5 and I'm sitting here waiting for the Fedex truck to arrive and drop mine off. $489 plus shipping.

$580! haha, I hate to tell you that I told you so.

But I did 🙂 (you "oh it's only going to be $499" types can now feel free to cry)

1) see the edit of the oringal post....
2) insert foot into mouth

Sorry, but a pre-order is not a "Buy it today because it is in stock price". Just wait...hehe

BMG: Your right. It was a HIS X800XT card. Good luck for anyone who may get it.

And some 6800U's have been shipped.
Really? Where? Every site I visit has them as preorder.

A few people on nvnews.net already have evga 6800U's

Even on here, theres a guy with one, nippyjun I think.

And more price gouging :

Newegg put up their ad for the 6800U again for $589

I'm just waiting for it to come in stock.

hmmm, ETA:6/9/2004

usually, newegg is pretty acurrate with their ETA

anyway, i cant believe they are charging shipping on this item! damn thing comes out to $640+ in CA

Glad schools over, I can wait this graphic thing out a lil while longer. $499 is probably what they will get to with some competition but right now the price gouging is pretty bad.

nippyjun's on AT i think....

There is a "nippyjun" on AT, not sure it is the same guy...

why someone would sell that....i dunno

If he actually gets that much for it, I do... Then again, in 5 yrs an engineering sample may be worth way more than that. I bet the 5800 Ultra engineering samples are probably already worth something.Personally, if I had it, I would use it until I could get a retail model, then put is back in it's case, and hang onto it.
