forgive my question, but I refuse to cycle through 29 pages of posts to find my answer:

I ran the test and floated btw 60%-73% cpu usage on my pny 6800 Ultra fw 67.20. This is the first I've heard of this issue and it really chaps my ass as I just bought a $1600 hd lcd.

So what's the deal? Nvidia's supposed to realease a driver fix for this by the end of november? Is that it?

Pfft all wrong. It's nVidiot / fanATIc :p

I'm standing from nVidia's POV. No one would call themselves idiots, right?
I got no problem calling myself one (case by case basis) ;)

Just for reference, it kills my work PC.. XD

Was curious, that's all, but dear christ I hope 1080i content doesn't become common because lots of PCs won't have a chance ;)

I read about 20 pages of the thread, and also did a search for "PCI-e", "PCI-x" and "PCI-Express" but wasn't able to come up with a conclusive answer for my question. (Not sure if there is a conclusive answer yet). Is the PCI-Express version of the 6800GT fully functional, or does it suffer from the same problems as the 6800 AGP card?

Thanks very much.

Bump...

I guess that leaves less than 24 hours now.
I am still waiting.
Well, I won't be that unreasonable to care that much about whether something is released Nov 30th or December 1st as long as it works as advertised, but a promise is still a promise IMO.

Come on nVidia, how long is it going to take to pull something out of your a$$? Seems they have some serious constipation issues.

tick, tick tick

I promised an update on NVIDIA's Video Processor situation, so here it is: right now, on the surface, nothing has changed. There's still no solid release date for the drivers and codec that will enable the video processor, but thanks to all of the negative press lately the folks at NVIDIA are scrambling to enable its support. There's the power of the internet for you :)

Nice job guys getting nVidia's attention. We did our part and all we can do is hope and pray that nVidia will deliver.
Too bad it's taking them so long to deliver on their promises. Unfortunately for them (NV) they lost my business for the second product cycle in a row.

If I wind up going NF4 I still might go NV for some 6600GT SLI action, though. :)

I still have my 6800GT so I'll keep hoping for the best until I don't :) I fixed my VIVO card so my sense of urgency for that 800pro VIVO is somewhat reduced too. If they fail to deliver in the next couple weeks though, I will be one of the people screaming "Get a rope!"

I won't be dumping my 6800 GT for awhile, at least not until the next product cycle which I may actually consider an ATi offering.

I'll keep my GT as well. It's a great gamer card that I suspect will get even better when I slap water to it. However, NVs behavior and tactics in this have left a very bad taste in my mouth. I'll be jumping ship during the next product cycle, for sure.

When bananas grow late, apes grow angry.

;)

I've been unable to get a copy of the fix off my buddy.

As a GT and NU owner who now wants to do video encoding for my new Creative Zen player, I'm with you on hoping this is still on time and works as advertised.

>>>They should admit they made a mistake and we will forgive and forget.
I picked this, mainly because I'd rather not see nvidia go out of business just because of a video processor that my CPU can handle the load of easily. Also the mpeg 2 acceleration works perfectly, it's just the divx and wmv that's stuffed.

I know messages sort of get lost in this huge thread. I read the whole thing but didn't find my answer. Does this problem plague the PCI-Express version of this card, or only the AGP?

thanks,

Technically, there are still 4 hours left until the end of November.
It's not the first time nVidia did a midnight release anyway, so perhaps there could still be something happening tonight?

As far as I am concerned, they affect both PCI-E & AGP.
The PCI-E 6800GT/Ultra uses the same NV40 chip with a HSI.
The PCI-E 6800 NU could be a different story, because the new batch seems to be using a different chip, NV41, but I don't know whether it changed the PVP unit or not. I only know the new chips basically halts any possibility of changing it into a full 16 pipe product.
The only card not affected at this moment seem to be 6600 series.
