Geforce 4: Winamp stutters!

Hello,

I have recently noticed that ever since I installed a new Geforce 4 Ti4200 into my system, when I play mp3s using Winamp, the playback of the music stutters every 15-20 seconds. This did not happen with my Geforce2 GTS.

I have the Detonator 30.xx drivers, and I just did a clean re-install of Windows XP Pro. And the problem is still happening.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How do you know that its due to the video card? You said you just reinstalled XP - there is likely something else that is causing Winamp to stutter.

I doubt very seriously that your video card is your problem.

You might check your sound card drivers.

or it might just be winamp. winamp3 seems to be causing alot of trouble for people in terms of skipping during playback.

try winamp2 and see if u get the same results.

Yeah, it was happening before I re-installed XP on Winamp 2.81 as well.

I am pretty sure it is because of the graphics card because others apparently have been having the same problem, and also because I've had a Geforce 2 GTS in this system for 2 years and up until now (replacing it with a Geforce 4) I got absolutely no stuttering.

Last night, I tried to increase the buffer size and whatnot in Winamp and that did seem to help, I don't hear stuttering, but now instead of it I hear the occasional popping sound.

Between this and a very low 3DMark score.. I am real close to giving up. 🙁
