I have recently got a Mecer Geforce 4 Ti4600, now because it is a Ti4600 i was expecting quite good proformance!

But after installing it, running a few tests ect.. i realised that this was not even nearly what i expected.
it was actually not nearly as good as i was hopeing.

Now has anyone else purchased a card from Mecer, and if so, did they find the same thing?

I was wondering if my system could be slowing down my card.

I have a P4 1.5ghz
512mb PC133 Ram
2x 20gig Seagate Barracuda Hardrive
Mecer Geforce 4 Ti4600
Windows XP Pro

I am running the Nvidia Detonator 41.09 drivers, but new or old drivers yield the same results!!!!

3D Mark score = 7500 (3D Mark 2001SE, 1024x768, 32bit colour)

In a Quake Time demo, demo=four i get an average of 110 fps (1024x768, 32bit colour, trillianer filltering, and everything on full)

Please help! if anyone nows why it is so low, please post a thread! If you think it is Mecer or just software or even my system please tell me!

please any ideas of how 2 help, just post!

Thanx

Actually, I believe it is your system. A P4 1.5 with sdram is bottlenecking a Ti 4600. Sdram itself is quite a bottleneck for Pentium 4 systems.

Thank you, but I also tried the g4 in an Athlon 1.4 ghz machine with 256 DDr 266 ram, it yielded around the same results as the p4 system???!!!

Could this be normal, or could the card be the culprit for the average performance?

I generally don't benchmark much, but I think you can compare your results to other machines at Madonion/Futuremark. For comparison, I got around 8500 marks default setting(3DMark 2001) with the Geforce 3 in my Dell P4 system. The same card in my old 1.2 Athlon Thunderbird system got only a little over 5000 marks IIRC. Also, that is with nothing overclocked on either system.

ouch, well what OS is the athon system. Since that system will be a lot faster then the p4 system is.

what drivers did u use?

have u used the newest via 4-1 drivers?

Ill go look at madonion for the P4 system benchmarks...

Both systems are running XP Athlon: XP Home with Sp1, P4: Xp Pro with out Sp1

Using latest 4in 1 drivers.

Thanks

"3D Mark score = 7500 (3D Mark 2001SE, 1024x768, 32bit colour)"

That is about right for your system, I used to get around 8500-8800 with a Ti4400/1600+/512DDR. As you have a 1.5 P4 (slower processor) and PC133 (slower RAM) I'd say you're where you should be.

Your results don't look too bad to me.
I get a very good score considering my system with a Ti4200 (11,400) 3dmark2k1SE AXP1800+ and Ti4200 overclocked to the MAX with 512MB DDR CAS2

so, 7500 for a P4 1.5 with SDR sounds about right.

I concur. You're score is good for a Pentium4 1.5GHz and PC133 SDRAM setup. I get 9580 3DMark2001 SE points with my 1.4GHz Tualatin Celeron overclocked to 1.715GHz and my overclocked GeForce4-Ti4400 (330/630 from 275/550) but, believe it or not, the Tualatin Celeron is far superior to the Pentium4 at the same clock speeds. My CPU is like having a 2.0GHz Pentium4.:)

I see what you mean looking at other 3d mark scores.

You should buy Epox 8rda+ with Nforce2 for you, then 2x256ddr333 or ddr400 cl2 for unleashed dual ddr2 performance, and upgrade also your bios on that motherboard, and finally buy Athlon XP Thoroughbred B revision Xp 2400+ for sure best, but there will be 1800+ thoroughbred B in 2 months for very cheap price, shoud be overclocked to XP2800+ speeds, I am not joking, this is best for you, but for now buying at this time 2400+ for many reason`s. You will have score with slightly overcloced processor and video card about 14000+ maybe with maxed on this system something around 15000, wow, twice as much you can achieve when you will buy what I have adviced to you.
Overclock it for sure
