GeForce 3 performance problems!

I am the happy owner of a Point of View GeForce 3 128 Mb DDR RAM video card

One day I wondered why the game Mafia was very slow graphics-wise. I thought that that couldn't be with such a potent video card.

Well maybe it is because of my slow CPU (AMD Duron 800 MHz), but I decided to try 3D Mark 2001SE.

Imagine my surprise: I only got a total of 4230! :Q In all the tests I have read with similar video cards the number is over 6000 or higher!

I have installed the newest 4-in-1 AGP drivers. I have forced the AGP port to 4x. Still nothing.

I am running Windows XP.

Can anyone help?

Try completely removing all the Nvidia files and re-installing the drivers. I am using 30.82 and NVmax 3.00.0072 in Windows 98SE. With a GF3 Ti200 @ 250/520 and an 1800MHz Athlon I am scoring 8500.

I'm using the latest Nvidia Detenator Drivers, 40.xx, I have a 1.4Ghz Athlon and gf3 golden sample (64MB), my best score was right aroudn 7200. Mines running at 225/540.

Maybe the CPU holds you back? I have a Duron 1gHz overclocked to 1200Mhz and even with all the newest drivers I only get 5800 with my GeForce 3 Ti 200 (64MB) at defaults and 6300 overclocked about 15-20%. Many people say a CPU under 1.5Ghz holds back the video card, and the 4 messages on this page fit that as the 3DMark scores are exactly in the same order as CPU speeds.
