Geforce 256 problems.

I get this really weird problem with my Asus V6600 Geforce 256 pure. Once and a while when I turn on my computer, while its booting up and it's still in the bios, my screen fills up with exclamation marks and some letters get switch around in the words like Asus might but Gsus or something. At first I thought it was a heat problem. I redid the thermal paste, and it stopped doing it for a couple weeks. This morning while my computer has been off for the whole night, it does it. So I know it's not a heat problem. If I boot into windows it will freeze, or I will get a screwed up image and it would freeze in minutes.

I know it's the video card because I upgraded my system and the only thing I didn't change was the video card (would do this in the old system to).

Any ideas?

RMA! 😛

Try a new heatsink for the video card or try applying some thermal compound between the hs and the core. A blorb is pretty cheap right now and it will fit that card (i used to have one, but i forget now). The old Geforce 256s ran awfully hot, that may be your trouble.

A little late for RMA.

I've got a blue orb and it doesn't fit. Anyways, I don't think it's a heat problem as it happens as soon as the computer turn ons. If it turns on without a problem, then it will run for days (as long as I don't reboot) without a problem.

Are you using ASII or something? You might have smeared it into the RAM connects. Check your RAM, it sounds like you have corrupted memory.

Nope, havn't used ASII, and by ram do you mean the ram on the video card or on my motherboard? The ram on my motherboard is brand new.
