While I wait until the price of the Geforce 3 drops in Australia (currently about A$1000)I need to decide whether to upgrade my video card in the new Athlon 1.33ghz 256mb RAM machine I am buying. I currently have a Creative Geforce Annihilator Pro 256 32mb DDR. What I would like to know is should I just keep using this card for the time being or upgrade to a 64MB NVIDIA Geforce2 MX from someone like Pixelviw (only A$200 in Oz).

Is there a noticeable spped difference? I have read that the original Geforce DDR is faster than the MX as it only uses SDRAM. Is that correct? Does having 64mb make it better than the 32mb DDR Geforce?

Thanks for your help.

Tasman

Gooday Mate!
Sorry.

The reviews on this site are helpful. The one I recently read showed that right now having 64mb isn't a big advantage at all over the 32mb cards. I don't have a link to the review because I'm lazy but click on up there to the right to get there and search for the GeForce MX400 review.

Adios,

tj

Reading a review on the Pixelview MX card right now. If I am reading the benchmarks correctly it looks like the Geforce 256 DDR is faster that the G2 MX card. I probably should have looked for this review before I posted my message.

Thanks

The GF DDR will spank any MX because it has much more memory bandwidth, and the extra 32 MB on a MX is largely useless. Avoid the GF DDR only if you have an old problematic motherboard.
