It won't be obsolete in six months, it'll still be a very fast card. They'll just be even faster ones available then 🙂

They are somewhat. The DDR line of cards use expensive RAM which is keeping the prices up. GTS Ultra is an extreme of course.

Ouch..$800 US is just a tad over $1200 CDN.

A friend of mine just built a Duron 600 system for less than that.
he has a 600, 128MB of RAM, a Voodoo3-3000 (not the greatest, but hey it still works) and a 20gig 7200rpm hard drive....

that's a pretty respectable system for less than a video card...

I paid $310 for my 32MB GTS waaaaaaaaaay back in May and when paired with a P3-933, I'm getting 97 fps in Q3 and an ave. 60-80 fps in UT (Loki OpenGL hack with the S3 textures). All games at 1024 rez, max eye candy. Schweeet.

I can wait for the NV20.🙂
