Have to revisit this thread I started...
I took your advice and held on to my Radeon LE. Now, as more games out demand for better graphic card, I am wondering which card I should get to replace the Radeon LE.

I am going to stick with W2K for now, so I can wait for ATI to come up with better driver for XP...

Do you really need 128MB ram for graphic card (this is bigger than the HD 10 years ago

BTW, there are too many options to tweak the card. I am clueless. Can you still DL a profile, say for Dungeon Siege, without playing too many guessing game?

OLD POST follows:
Here is the thing: my friend dumped his old GeForce 2 MX400 (64MB) to me, as he got a new GeForce 4. I am currently using Redeon LE (32MB) - working smoothly under windows 2000, with all the Redeon Tweaks implemented and nicely over clocked.

I am only tempted by the larger ram the GeForce 2 card got. My rig is PIII-933 with 512MB Ram.

My question is, does it worth my trouble to replace my beloved Radeon LE to this GeForce 2 MX card.
The only driver I can find is from nVidia's web site with the reference driver. Is this the best driver I can get for this generic card? Any good utilities out there that I can tweak/oc this card better? (URL please)

Well, I have that card on my table, and I really want to try it (Return to Wolfenstein is finnally make me feel that my Radeon LE is probably out dated...). I have to hold myself before I hear from you guys.

Any suggestions?

I seriously doubt that Geforce2MX400 is going to be faster than the Radeon you have....even with the added memory. You can always try it out and then if you're not satisfied just put things back the way it was. I have an LE@191/191 and it seems slow to me....but then thats probably cuz I'm running XP and it seems ATI hasn't fixed the stuttering menus in XP. Oh and Wolfenstein......I think you'd need a GF3 class vidcard to run it smoothly with details turned on.

I am currently oc my Radeon LE at 166 under windows 2000. What's the good mark for me to oc the core and memory? What have you guys done?

Plus, does 32MB more momry mean anything except I can go higher res at 32-bit color?

both were fresh installs although your milage may vary and this was for my kids computer the games were to see what it could and could not do for me not them lol

I have a Geforce 2MX 400 64MB but with DDR memory. And i am pleased with most of my games in 800x600 resolutions...

I have ramsinks and a new hsf i got from 2cooltek last year.........I don't think either is really necessary but i'm sure you can push it to at least 183mhz.....most people get it higher.....there were only very few instances where someone on the forums had poor overclocking Radeon LEs.

It's funny how people still ask this question.

For the one thousandth time, the Radeon LE is always better than the Geforce 2 MX400.
The MX400's crippled SDR bus makes 64MB on it completely useless.
The Radeon LE uses "128BIT DDR" and it has better 2D, and DVD, and 3D.
And finally, no, the MX400 does not use DDR, it uses 64BIT

That depends on your budget. As always, buy the fastest video card you can afford.

Not on a P3 933; you're too CPU limited to really take advantage of it. A Radeon 8500 or a GF3 Ti500 would suit you quite well, or a GF4 Ti4200 when it arrives.
