Geforce 2 MX

I haven't regretted it, it may be because I had a 4mb ATI Rage Pro, all of my games have a respectable speed at 1280x1024.

<edit> Just looking at Anand's review, the DDR is faster in just about all aspects

It seems that Nvidia will make a lot of people regret their purchases if they have a 6 month or less product cycle.

I heard that the Asus one (V7100) will be available in the last week of July - first week of august 🙂

I think I may be buying one too 🙂

The DDR may be faster at stock speed but the MX is very fast when overclocked, especially considering the price 🙂

I'm deffinatly getting one. An overclocked GF2 MX's performance compared to a GeForce DDR is like that of a Duron compared to an Athlon. All that for $120 is imposssible to pass up!

Its benchmarks are extremely dissapointing its only competetor was the geforce sdr in the non-overclocked bm's I saw.

Why is everybody comparing a overclocked MX vs a nonoverclocked DDR? You might aswell say "why buy a GTS when a overclocked DDR is just as fast". You should compare them both overclocked or both at default speeds.

However you twist and turn it the GTS is faster than the DDR which is faster than the MX, but the best bang for your buck is IMO the MX (and if you´re content with 16-bit color and <1024 it´s really fast).

Can anyone point me to a press release from a boardmaker that shows the MX coming out at $120 for an SDR 32 meg setup.

The only official release I've seem (from "Hercules&quot😉 is $149 for the 32 meg version and $199 for the dualhead version.

The $120 is not to be found anywhere. NVIDIA makes the chips, but the board makers set the prices.

Michael

The reason it is compared to the GeForce SDR and DDR is because those are the two cards it is closest to.
