GEForce 2 MX for $95 - Good buy?

Hey guys.

I live in Malaysia and we have this big PC fair coming up and I can probably bag an MSI GEForce 2 MX AGP 4X with 32MB for around 95 US bucks. Is this a good buy by your standards? I'm not expecting it to be the best MX card out there, but for an MX it is a pretty good price. Comment?

I did that exact same deal but i returned it for the Elsa Erazor X2 32MB DDR 4x AGP card. You can get it at Staples for $170 and then use the $40 off $150 coupon and the $30 MIR to get it down to $100. It is a much better card, IMHO, and having used both i can say that with some confidence. For $5 more i would go with the Erazor but $95 is still a good deal for the MX.

Hi MarlorH,
don't you read in his post that he live in Malaysia 🙂 and I believe there is no STAPLES in Malaysia.

I really want to pick up the Erazor X2, but am unable to find the $30 MIR. Does it come in the box? I checked both Staples and the Elsa website. Neither of them had any info about a rebate. Hook me up with some info, please.

Gracias

Here is an easier way:

1. Call Staples and price match the Erazor at Onvia.com ($135.26)
3. Once they match at $135.36, have them apply the $30 off $100 coupon
3. They have free shipping, so the total cost will be $105.36

Hope that helps. For the ones asking about the $40 off $150, you can't post coupon codes on here but just go to any of the main coupon sites, it is there...two of them actually.

Read Anand's review on budget cards, DDR isn't always better. On MX's it runs at a lower bus giving the same effective bandwidth.

I get the coupon ($40 of $150) thing, but he mentioned a rebate of $30. I've been looking for that and can't seem to find it.

Brewski,

Just do it the way i said above, you get the same price and you don't have to wait 2 months for a MIR. I don't recall where i got the rebate as it was a while ago, but there was a link to it right next to the item at one of the big online stores i.e. Buy.Com, Outpost.com, Onvia.com, etc.

Thanks, I have already bought this thing for $100 shipped. Gets here tomorrow. I'm excited to slap my new Blue Orb on it an see what she can do. I am always looking to save an extra buck, so the thought of making it even $30 cheaper sounded awesome. Still looking for the rebate!!!!

Hei, I'm from Malaysia too and I'm now in Michigan. I can say that it's a good price but do wait for the final day of the fair, you know how much they will lower the price. 🙂

And guys, there's no such thing as pricematch or Staples in M'sia. There's only Imbi Plaza where you can get any software and I mean ANY for bout 5 USD. 🙂 Of course, it's pirated. 😛

haha...there's no Staples in Malaysia. Stuff is cheap there, except for CARS! Tons of pirated games that go for less than US2 each too! Why I know this? That's because I was born and lived in Malaysia for 20 years, that's why. No mail in rebates there too...but that's because you don't pay as much for a lousy video card like in the States. Wished that they have good deals on cars though.

hi pillage2001. Which part of Malaysia are you from? Judging from your knowledge of Imbi Plaza, you're from KL! Way to go! I'm from KL too... drop me a mail at ayyr@yahoo.com if you have the time.

The only info on a rebate I can find was that it ended on May 31 and it was one of those subscribe to an ISP kinda rip-off. But 100 for this card is very good.

From what some of my Malaysian friends tell me of current prices over there, that sounds like a pretty good deal.
