Well I have an FIC SD11 mobo with a k7 500 (slot a) with 256 meg ram. My 3dmark2000 is getting scores in the 200's! I took the card (geforce 2 gts) to a friends and he got 5910 with it. I need help. Can anyone help me out?

He is running a Dual P3 733's in each. But my cousin has a PII 400, 128ram, TNT2 Ultra and he got 1590 in 3dmark2000. I am really confused. Not sure about the fsb though bro.

Have you installed the Via 4 in 1s?

What video card was installed prior to the GF2?

Did you format before/since you installed the board?

I have done all of that. I used to use a PCI Banshee. This is my first AGP card. I looked all through my BIOS but there is only one AGP setting. Its for AGP memory or something. 16mb-512mb.

Yep, it looks like we will need full system specs and also driver revisions for devices. Also, IRQ list would probably be a good idea, we'll figure out how to get your board up to speed:)

We are both running Windows 2000. Same setup. Same ram (256). Its just his comp has more processor. And its Intel, mine is AMD. But my cousin has a PII 450 with 128 ram and a TNT2 Ultra and he beats me in every test also. So there has got to be something wrong.

ok...still not the level of system info desired but lets run with it anyway...first off dl the latest agp driver from via...the newest one may not be included in 4in1 drivers yet so make sure you get it...also...dl the new nvidia 10.4x drivers for win2k it is linked on the anandtech mainpage...also dl the hotfix for win2k os on AMD systems with nvidia cards from win2k support site and install it last after all teh other updates...are you runnin dx8 and sp1 for win2k?? do you have any conflicts listed in device manager? This is a start but really need some more detailed sys info

did you update 3dmark2000? the AGP thing in your bios is the aperture size. setting it below 32mb
makes it a pci card. there's also a viaagp reg for w2k to make enable it to 4x use pcilist/cpuid to check if enabled or not. disable byte merge, all shadowing, set AGP strength to auto and set AGP mode to 4x. my old d650@900 with gtsmx does 4200 in w2k.

Have you got an amd approved 300watt power supply?, what system temps do you have, some geforce cards have a thermal throttling as do some mainboards worth checking out.

Check your resources available,do you have loads of things running in the background? This can affect 3D performance so disable these. And keep PCI slot 1 free(nearest to AGP card)even if you appear to have no IRQ problems.

:)
