Geforce 2 GTS 64mb freezing up in diablo2 style games... weird

I cant seem to run games like diablo 2 or fallout2 tactics for more than a couple of minutes without it freezing up. It just halts the entire system. the sound starts cycling and the screen freezes. it seems that the only way to get out is to hit the ole reset button. I only have problems with one other game, Rogue Spear and it does the same thing. I had wondered if it might be a directX 8 problem but I swear that it was doing the same thing before installed DX8. Does anyone know a possible fix. I know of a hardware issue with my mother board and the GeForce2 and if I didnt have to use my computer everyday I would send the board to Abit to get it modified to not conflict. anyone got any ideas as to why it keeps freezin up?

probably directx problem, try reinstalling official detonator drivers and reinstall direct x8
