Geforce 2 GTS 32MB Visiontek - Fan Totally Broken

I have an old Geforce 2 GTS that has served me well. Earlier today the fan started making all sorts of crazy noises. Buzzing, etc. I've done what I can to make it stop, but it looks like I either need to get a new card or get a new fan.

Does anyone have any idea which fan or heatsink I should buy from Newegg to keep from having to throw away my video card? Thanks.

I think it should work fine without a fan.

I have a GF4 MX which is pretyt much a GF2 that has no fan.

The heatsink on it is fine. I've been able to remove the fan, but I didn't want to destroy the card or my motherboard, etc.

How can I find out how much heat the videocard is outputting? Has anyone try running a GF2 GTS without a fan? Thanks for the replies guys.

just touch the back of it after having it on for like half an hour. it isn't really hot when you just use the computer normally...but it will get a little warm if you play games. if the back is just warm to the touch, then it's fine.

if you have any fan just sitting around, you can attach it with zipties and call it a day.

The thing about replacing the fan is that the power connector is glued into the board so I can't get it out. Basically, if I was going to run it without the fan, I'd have to cut the wires so there's be no going back. If I wanted to replace the fan.. well I'm not sure. I'm tempted to just try it without the fan and just keep an eye on the temperatures.

70 degrees

Did a search and found that post. Mentioned that the temperatures he was getting on his Winfast GeForce2 GTS was 70 degrees celcius, which I guess is too hot.

What's a good program for monitoring video card temps?

You can try putting a slot fan near the video card - this will get some air flow over the heatsink. I susally just get an old 486 or Pentium fan to reaplce the video card fan, and splice in the fan wires.
