Would the system function properly if I were to solder a GeForce 3-4 chip in place of the 2MX on my iMac? Are the processor interfaces vastly different?

Um....you can't do that.

At the very least, the memory interfaces are different. You also have different voltages and power requirements, different pinouts, different BIOSes

It totally wouldn't work. I don't think this belongs in highly technical anyway.

Ah, then how could I emulate this, perhaps as a second video card?

Ah, then, I would need to solder all of the components onto the motherboard.
