I looked it on wikipedia. It was named after Shakey Johnson. He got that name cause of nerve damage from malaria during WWII"Shakeys" sounds like an alcoholic w/ the DTs
Pewter mugs haven't been a thing in the UK for a few decades. I have both my grandads mugs. It used to be a thing that you'd keep your mug behind the bar of your local and they'd have it filled by the time you got to the bar. Back in the 70s, there was an American restaurant chain that had “pewter” mugs with glass bottoms. Anyone recall the chain? Shakey’s?
I understand that the mugs were a fad in England but unusual in the US.

I'm not old enough to remember anything that happened in the 70s.
